Job description

Compensation Analyst Opportunity

Build the future, spark innovation and align your career with purpose.

McKinstry is innovating the waste and climate harm out of the built environment and creating lasting impact. Together, we're building a thriving planet.

Buildings are a leading contributor to the climate crisis, generating nearly 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions. We're making a lasting impact on our industry and within our communities by addressing the climate, affordability and equity crises through:

  • renewables and energy services
  • engineering and design
  • construction and facility services

To get where we're going, we need big thinkers, problem solvers and collaborative mindsets. Does that sound like you?

The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Compensation Analyst to join our Human Resources team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining consistent, accurate job descriptions across the organization. The role partners with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Compensation to ensure job descriptions are properly structured, aligned with role expectations, and accurately reflected in job postings and systems. The role plays a key part in improving consistency and quality in how roles are documented, while supporting broader efforts to streamline job descriptions and enhance organizational alignment over time. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Draft, edit, and maintain job descriptions to ensure consistency in structure, tone, and required content across the organization
  • Partner with HRBPs and hiring managers to define role responsibilities and ensure job descriptions are complete, accurate, and aligned with internal standards
  • Maintain job description templates, track requests and updates, and ensure timely and efficient completion of work
  • Partner with Recruiting to ensure job postings accurately reflect approved job descriptions and role expectations
  • Coordinate with Total Rewards and HR Ops to ensure roles are properly set up in systems (e.g., Workday) and aligned with applicable pay components (e.g., shift pay, auto allowance, incentives)
  • Support audits and continuous improvement efforts by identifying inconsistencies, improving job description quality, and contributing to future job architecture initiatives

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 24 years of experience in HR, Recruiting, HR Operations, or related field
  • Experience drafting or editing job descriptions or similar documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Prefer exposure to compensation or job leveling concepts
  • Strong written communication and ability to create clear, consistent documentation
  • High attention to detail and quality control mindset
  • Ability to gather information and translate it into structured content
  • Strong collaboration skills across HR and business partners
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and timelines
