Job description

Located in Dallas, Texas, we are seeking a Building Automation Controls Engineer skilled in designing, programming, and optimizing Alerton building management systems. This position involves creating and implementing network architecture, submittal preparation, programming, troubleshooting, and integrating third-party controllers to expand existing BAS installations. You will support technicians, develop system logic, and ensure efficient and reliable system operations. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, with an emphasis on renovation projects and maintaining distributed control systems for robust functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Alerton BAS systems, including network architecture and submittal preparation.
  • Develop and write programming for Alerton systems, with a focus on Central Plant applications.
  • Integrate third-party BACnet-compatible equipment controllers.
  • Create graphics design and implement as needed.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and support to field technicians.
  • Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, and Microsoft Suite for engineering design and documentation.
  • Work on renovation projects, with some involvement in new construction as needed.
  • Ensure system designs prioritize distributed control logic within local controllers.
  • Collaborate with teams to meet project specifications and operational goals.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of specific Alerton BAS experience (additional experience welcomed).
  • Proficiency in Alerton system programming and design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, and Microsoft Suite tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and HVAC equipment operations.
  • Experience with various HVAC systems, including:
  • Built-up AC units with DX or chilled water cooling
  • VAV AHUs, multi-zone AHUs, hydronic systems, and specialty systems
  • Terminal unit systems (2-pipe, 4-pipe, VAV boxes, fan coil units, etc.)
  • Project experience in building types such as K-12, universities, municipal buildings, hospitals, industrial plants, and military bases.
  • Ability to manage expansions of existing Alerton BAS installations.

Preferred Background for the Role:

  • Experience with renovation projects over new construction.
  • A detailed understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and control logic.
  • Familiarity with a variety of building types and operational systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills.
  • A mindset focused on robust, distributed control system design.

Employee Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually, based on experience and position level.
  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with company match, helping you secure your financial future.
  • Life and Disability Insurance: Life insurance and long-term disability coverage to protect you and your family.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: Options for healthcare and dependent care, maximizing your tax savings.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedules to ensure work-life balance.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access to resources and support for personal and professional life challenges.
