Our client, a well-established player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join their operations in the Lansing, MI area. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience in PLCs, robotic systems, and automation projects-especially within a high-demand environment like automotive or industrial 's a chance to lead technical coordination of the plant's automation and electrical systems. You'll manage PLC / robotic equipment, spearhead new projects, and drive continuous improvement across controls infrastructure. If you enjoy problem-solving, project ownership, and staying ahead of tech trends in automation, this role is built for you.
Key Responsibilities : -Manage all technical activities related to the plant's PLC-controlled paint system, including documentation, ladder logic, board / software revisions, and interface coordination.-Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems, PLCs, and robotic equipment.-Lead automation and controls engineering modifications for new and existing projects, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.-Stay current with emerging technologies (PLC or otherwise) and evaluate their potential application.-Act as project manager for engineering projects as assigned by leadership.-Support broader electrical engineering needs across current and future systems.-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications : -Documented experience with Allen-Bradley (or similar) PLC systems including hardware, software, and ladder logic.-Proven hands-on experience with robotic systems and interface design.-Strong PC proficiency and ability to navigate industrial software environments.-Ability to read and interpret electrical / electronic schematics and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications : -Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.-Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.-Candidates currently enrolled in a degree program with relevant work experience will also be considered.
