Job description

Project Manager

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an immediate opening for a Project Manager to join our dynamic team with 100% onsite in Palmdale, CA.

In this role, you will serve as a vital member of the Program Integration Team, directly enabling Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Chief Engineering Team leadership to achieve operational excellence. This is a high-visibility, cross-functional position requiring a proactive team player who can seamlessly bridge the gap between technical project management, planning, execution teams, and program executive leadership.

Regular responsibilities may include the following:

  • Program Control & Reporting: Monitor project health metrics, track multi-million-dollar budget variances, update master schedules, and draft data-driven executive status reports.
  • Risk & Opportunity (RIO) participation: Support the management of program risks, issues, and opportunities. Coordinate RIO identification meetings and maintain tracking logs to safeguard program baselines.
  • Cross-Functional Problem Solving: Assist in analyzing programmatic challenges, break complex problems down into actionable tasks, and coordinate follow-up actions across technical and business teams.
  • Executive & Customer Interface: Coordinate internal and customer-facing reviews. Manage meeting logistics, distribute presentation templates, organize content, and track action items to closure.
  • Business Growth Support: Provide administrative and technical writing support during new business proposal development, ensuring proposal team files and timelines remain organized.
  • Program Infrastructure Management: Maintain team continuity by updating organizational charts and curating data within the program's primary SharePoint repositories.
  • Financial & Resource Oversight: Review financial reports and assist integration with the business management on a monthly basis, to analyze variances, and evaluate budgets.
  • Executive Communication: Forge enduring and reliable relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on high-priority deliverables.

We offer flexible work arrangements, 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. We are looking for self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented people to help us grow our services and become even better at what we do.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have Bachelors Degree with 2 years of experience, Masters Degree, or in lieu of degree with 6 years experience
  • Experience must be in project management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, program management or business management
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or greater from an accredited university
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) certification or direct experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Demonstrated capability to autonomously assess complex enterprise issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and decompose data into actionable implementation plans
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder management and creating executive-level communications to ensure alignment across large, diverse programs
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-departmental initiatives, managing execution timelines, and aligning cross-functional teams to meet organizational goals.
  • Proven track record of maintaining tracking systems, data logs, or inventory infrastructure within highly standardized or strictly regulated industries.
  • Experience documenting processes, developing workflow aids, or maintaining compliance records to ensure operational continuity.

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
