A premier commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its growing San Diego team. Position Overview

The Commercial Construction Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and Superintendent throughout the entire project lifecycle, from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.

You'll work alongside experienced construction professionals while gaining valuable exposure to project management, estimating, scheduling, contracts, subcontractor coordination, project financials, and client relationships.

This position is ideal for someone who is ready to take the next step in their commercial construction career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in managing commercial construction projects
  • Assist with projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and project documentation
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination
  • Track project schedules, budgets, commitments, and costs
  • Assist with change orders, purchase orders, and contract administration
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate meeting documentation
  • Assist with procurement and material tracking
  • Monitor project documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Support quality control and project compliance
  • Assist with punch lists, closeout documentation, and warranty requirements
  • Help identify and resolve project issues before they impact schedule or budget
  • Maintain organized project records and communication
  • Work closely with senior Project Managers to develop advanced project management skills

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience preferred
  • Experience as a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and project teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related field preferred
