Job description

Pricing Analyst

The Pricing Analyst plays a critical role in the service parts supply chain by developing data-driven pricing strategies and cost models that ensure cost integrity and maximize profitability. This position combines technical manufacturing knowledge, financial analysis, and advanced data analytics to support low-volume automotive service environments. The role functions as a consultant to internal purchasing teams and external suppliers, providing clear justification for cost adjustments in a dynamic global market.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the validity of automotive supplier part pricing, tooling, packaging, and contract requests, with a specific focus on low-volume service requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine should-cost models and cost estimates that establish a baseline for negotiations and financial planning.
  • Calculate, document, and explain pricing adjustments driven by changes in manufacturing processes, volume fluctuations, and macroeconomic factors such as inflation.
  • Analyze large, complex, and sometimes incomplete data sets to identify trends, establish facts, and draw actionable conclusions that support pricing decisions.
  • Present, defend, and clearly communicate cost changes to internal and external stakeholders who may have differing priorities, ensuring transparency and alignment with financial objectives.
  • Leverage market intelligence by data mining public indices such as steel, plastic, and labor indexes to anticipate market shifts and their impact on the supply base.
  • Collaborate closely with purchasing, finance, and supplier teams to ensure pricing strategies align with broader business goals.
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and SAP (if available) to build reports, dashboards, and analyses that support pricing and cost decisions.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations and solutions based on analytical findings to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Support occasional visits to supplier sites or manufacturing facilities to better understand cost drivers, manufacturing processes, and commodity impacts.

Essential Skills

  • 25 years of experience in pricing analysis, cost analysis, or financial analysis.
  • 25 years of experience in data analysis, including the ability to provide recommendations and solutions based on analytical findings.
  • Completed bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong experience in pricing, estimation, and finance, with the ability to link financial outcomes to operational decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Experience with data analysis and data interpretation in a business or financial context.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed cost analysis and cost breakdowns for parts, tooling, and packaging.
  • Ability to analyze large and sometimes incomplete data sets to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to explain economic and pricing impacts clearly.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Motivated, self-starter mindset with long-term career aspirations and a desire for growth in the pricing or financial analysis career path.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Automotive cost analysis experience, particularly within service parts or manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments and commodity cost drivers.
  • Familiarity with public market indices such as steel, plastic, and labor indices and how they influence cost structures.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools for data visualization and reporting.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to supplier sites or manufacturing facilities as business needs require.

Work Environment

The role currently follows a hybrid schedule with on-site work Monday through Thursday and a work-from-home day on Friday, with the possibility of transitioning to five days on-site depending on leadership direction. The workspace is an open-concept environment where the broader purchasing team sits on the same floor, encouraging collaboration and communication. The building includes a cafeteria, and additional lunch options are within walking distance. Typical work hours are either 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a required unpaid one-hour lunch break. The dress code is business casual, where khakis or dress pants paired with a button-down shirt or blouse are appropriate. The culture emphasizes a family- and team-oriented atmosphere, with a strong focus on putting people first, acting with integrity, staying curious, innovating for the future, building durable solutions, playing to win, and working together as one unified team. The position offers a structured vacation program that renews annually and is available for use soon after hire, as well as 10 paid holidays each year following an initial employment period.
