Job description

Beta Bionics HR Associate

Beta Bionics, Inc. is a medical technology company dedicated to bringing innovative type 1 diabetes management solutions to the many, not the few. We are committed to bringing better access to better solutions and a better life for those living with diabetes with the world's first bionic pancreas called the iLet. The iLet Bionic Pancreas is the first and only insulin delivery system that does not require carb counting*, bolusing, correction factors, or pre-set basal rates. The only number needed to get started with the iLet Bionic Pancreas is a user's weight the iLet does the rest. The iLet lets users "Go Bionic" with their diabetes management. *User must be carb aware.

The HR Associate is responsible for:

  • Supporting a broad range of HR programs, processes, and day-to-day activities, including independently managing a variety of processes and employee matters across the employee lifecycle.
  • Providing a positive, helpful experience for employees and serving as a resource to employees and managers by evaluating HR questions and issues, determining appropriate next steps, and providing guidance within established company practices and policies.
  • Partnering with members of the HR team on onboarding, benefits, talent acquisition, employee relations, employee engagement, HR operations, compliance, and other areas as assigned.
  • Taking ownership of assigned HR programs and projects and exercising judgment in determining how to successfully execute them.
  • Reports to Head of Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day HR operations and serve as a helpful and responsive resource for employees. Evaluate questions and situations, determine appropriate responses or courses of action, provide guidance within established company practices and policies, and escalate complex or sensitive matters when appropriate.
  • Assist with talent acquisition activities including posting positions, managing relationships with recruiting agencies, and coordinating the pre-hiring process.
  • Support new hire onboarding and employee offboarding, including preparing materials, coordinating logistics, completing required documentation, and partnering with other departments to make sure the process runs smoothly.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including employee communications, enrollment activities, maintaining records, and responding to routine questions.
  • Maintain HR systems, employee records, and reporting. Evaluate data for accuracy and trends, identify discrepancies or compliance concerns, determine appropriate corrective action, and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist with HR compliance activities, audits, reporting, and required documentation. Research requirements, identify potential gaps or risks, and recommend actions to maintain compliance.
  • Help with employee relations matters by gathering and evaluating relevant information, identifying potential concerns, documenting issues, and making recommendations to HR leadership regarding appropriate next steps.
  • Support the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures. Evaluate recurring employee or operational issues and recommend changes to policies, practices, communications, or processes when appropriate.
  • Support employee engagement and culture initiatives, including company events, employee programs, surveys, and other activities.
  • Help prepare HR communications, presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and other materials. Analyze HR reports to identify meaningful trends or issues and provide observations and recommendations to HR leadership.
  • Assist with the administration and tracking of employee leaves of absence, including coordinating required documentation and communications, maintaining accurate leave records, monitoring key dates and return-to-work activities, and partnering with HR, payroll, and third-party administrators as appropriate.
  • Support payroll preparation by reviewing and compiling employee changes and payroll-related information, validating data for accuracy and completeness, identifying and researching discrepancies, and coordinating corrections prior to payroll processing. Partner with Payroll Manager, HR, Finance, employees, and managers as needed to resolve issues and help ensure timely and accurate payrolls.
  • Support administration of the company's timekeeping system, including reviewing timesheets for completeness and accuracy, identifying missing or potentially inaccurate entries, following up with employees and managers regarding required corrections and approvals, and helping ensure timekeeping deadlines are met.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding routine timekeeping questions and processes. Review timekeeping data for exceptions or recurring issues, troubleshoot system or process questions, and escalate potential wage-and-hour or other compliance concerns to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Own assigned HR programs and processes from planning through execution. Determine priorities, identify issues and opportunities for improvement, make recommendations, and coordinate with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Handle sensitive employee and company information with appropriate confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Look for opportunities to make HR processes simpler, more organized, and more effective.

Required Education and Experience

  • Writing. The person who can communicate clearly and concisely in written form.
  • Comfortable with technology. The person who learns new tools quickly and isn't intimidated by HR systems, spreadsheets, data, or new processes.
  • Growth-minded. The person who wants feedback, is willing to try new things, learns from experiences and mistakes, and is excited to take on more responsibility over time.
  • Kind. This one speaks for itself.
