Job Description

The Release Train Engineer is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train, a team of teams made up of multiple Scrum teams. The RTE facilitates train-level events and processes, helps teams deliver value, removes barriers, manages risk and dependencies, and drives continuous improvement.

In C&C Data And Insights (DNI) specifically, the RTE is the connective tissue between the Data & Insights delivery teams and the Customer & Commercial business and platform partners keeping planning, work items, and priorities aligned across both organizations. The role coordinates across global delivery locations (Houston, Manila, Buenos Aires, and India) and stays in sync with the other Data & Insights RTEs.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate train ceremonies Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Sync, Product Owner Sync, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Act as a servant leader for the train, supporting the Product Line Manager and teams rather than directing them.
  • Set and communicate cadence establish the rhythm of sprints and Program Increments, and publish PI objectives for visibility.
  • Remove impediments and manage risk surface blockers, escalate where needed, and manage cross-team dependencies at the train level.
  • Optimize the flow of value spot bottlenecks, emphasize finishing work over starting new work, and coach teams toward relentless improvement.
  • Ensure transparency in Azure DevOps (ADO) make sure all team activity, dashboards, and metrics are visible and reliable.
  • Coach teams and Scrum Masters on agile and Scrum practices, and foster communities of practice.
  • Track delivery and performance use flow metrics, key performance indicators, and objectives/key results to review progress and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Global Delivery Coordination - Coordinate delivery activities across global teams and vendor partners in multiple geographic locations, ensuring effective planning, communication, dependency management, and execution across time zones
  • Operate within lean budgets and adhere to spending guardrails.
  • Bridge DNI (Data Insights) and C&C (Customer and Commercial) work item structures coordinate how epics and features are parented between the DNI train and the C&C portfolio in ADO, so priorities and ownership stay aligned across both organizations.
  • Own staffing profiles and resourcing inputs build and maintain staffing profiles in TargetProcess and reconcile epic/resourcing sheets for business planning cycles (e.g., BP26/BP27).
  • Advise on planning cadence evaluate sprint length and PI planning frequency, balancing team productivity against alignment with C&C Platform partners.
  • Drive Value Framework adoption run office hours, answer questions, and maintain guidance documentation (OneNote/wiki) so teams apply the framework consistently.
  • Manage train communications and access maintain distribution lists (following the TPE-IT-DNI naming convention), Teams channels, and ADO permissions, and support onboarding/offboarding through the identity/access process.
  • Support business planning submissions ensure DNI epics that support Trading and other C&C lines are captured as demands with correct ownership so they get visibility and funding.

Required Skills

  • Deep working knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, and Kanban, with hands-on facilitation of PI Planning and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Strong Azure DevOps skills boards, queries, dashboards, area paths, and permissions.
  • Experience with TargetProcess for staffing and portfolio work.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-organization coordination (business, platform, and delivery).
  • Servant-leadership and coaching mindset; skilled facilitator and communicator.
  • Familiarity with the data domain (data foundation, data products, insights) is a strong plus.
