Job Title: Reliability Engineer/Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Reliability Engineer with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills to support, maintain, and improve complex automated production systems. This role focuses on hands-on mechanical diagnostics and repair, including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics during both production and installation activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on servicing of conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, motors, belts/chains, actuators, and material handling systems.
- Diagnose mechanical root causes of failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct mechanical adjustments, alignments, lubrication, tensioning, and inspections.
- Execute and improve preventive and predictive maintenance tasks; update procedures as needed.
- Utilize mechanical diagnostic tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, laser alignment tools, vibration meters, and infrared thermography.
- Support mechanical installation, alignment, rigging, and commissioning of new or modified automation equipment.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and SolidWorks/CAD-based documentation.
- Perform basic electrical checks (motor starters, simple wiring verification).
- Escalate PLC or advanced controls issues to specialists.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records, equipment history, and recommended spare parts lists.
- Communicate clearly with production, engineering, and vendor teams.
- Follow all site safety procedures (LOTO, PPE, confined space, fall protection).
Essential Skills
- Hands-on mechanical/maintenance experience in manufacturing or automation (degree not required).
- 0–3 years of industrial maintenance or mechanical troubleshooting experience (internships/co-ops accepted).
- Strong mechanical aptitude: bearing replacement, gearbox inspection, belt/chain tensioning, motor alignment, basic hydraulic/pneumatic servicing.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools (multimeter for basic checks, torque tools, alignment tools, .
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work overtime, shifts, and participate in on-call rotation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or CAD (viewing, basic edits, simple assembly drawings).
- Exposure to PLC/HMI concepts (no programming required).
- Experience with condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermography) and reliability methodologies (FMEA, RCM).
- Forklift, aerial lift, or rigging certification.
- OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training.
Work Environment
The position is based in an R&D production facility, operating a 1 day shift from 6am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. During the busy season from February to June, flexibility in working hours is required, including potential overtime. The facility is climate-controlled and clean, adhering to USDA regulations for seed production. Unpaid holidays include Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday) and Christmas/New Year's (December 25th through January 1st). Employees accrue 5 days of PTO, with restrictions on taking full weeks off during peak seasons. Coordination with team members is required for single, pre-planned days off to ensure coverage.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
