Job Developer
The Safer Foundation is a social service provider to individuals with arrest and conviction records. Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment.
General Summary:
The Job Developer (JD) is responsible for development of employer relationships that result in career path placements for Safer clients engaged in programming and services under the "Supportive Reentry Network Collaborative" (SRNC). This position will work specifically with justice-impacted and reentry individuals, many of which are experiencing a host of other needs including medical, behavioral health, housing, and other needs, while also seeking employment. The Job Developer will be a part of a multidisciplinary workforce team that work together to address the holistic needs of individuals seeking employment and supportive services from Safer Foundation. The JD will report to the Employment Manager. The Job Developer will also work cross-functionally with all programmatic teams and other key personnel at Safer Foundation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand the client population that Safer serves, including aspects of justice supervision (probation, parole, pre-trial, etc.) and common/unique barriers and needs in order to inform employment placements and coordination.
- Work collaboratively with the team to receive referrals for employment and take appropriate steps to match and place referred individuals with/in jobs tailored to their IEP (Individual Employment Plan)
- Create excellent professional relationships with employers and fellow department co-workers.
- Work in collaboration with various program departments to troubleshoot barriers and collectively develop solutions.
- In conjunction with an assigned Reentry Navigator or other involved staff, the Job Developer will provide data driven outcomes, produced by intensive reporting that is specific to program deliverables.
- Collaborate with Safer's Life Skill Trainer to ensure proper job readiness and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment:
- Prospect for new employers through intensive research, community-outreach, market analysis, networking, calling, information dissemination and presentation campaigns.
- Understanding the specific client's needs, the Job Developer will work to identify potential employment leads and outreach opportunities for clients who are seeking job placement.
- Spend at least 2/3 of time in the field making direct employer contacts, entering all qualified employment placements into the Salesforce database.
- Job Developer will enter all pertinent documents and services provided (IDs, resumes, etc.) into the Salesforce database.
Tracking, Document, and Reporting:
- Job Developer will enter all pertinent documents and services provided (IDs, resumes, etc.) into the Salesforce database.
- Enter all job starts into Safer's database, along with supporting documents.
- Perform and document 30, 60, and 90 day retention checks with placed clients.
- Participate in periodic multidisciplinary staffings.
- Submit assigned reports that are routinely correct and on-time.
- Engage in special projects along with routine expectations when it is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Passion for social justice
- Hands-on experience and self-sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook (for email), Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging)
- Ability to work with high-risk populations with complex needs
- Excellent communication skills
- Client-centered ideology
- Cultural competency (cultural and linguistic) as it relates to cultures and trauma experienced by formerly incarcerated individuals and as it relates to predominantly underserved minority communities
- Strong display of professionalism at all times

- Previous experience working with justice-involved individuals is desired
- Ability to work remotely and succeed through virtual technology
- Ability to properly document
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required
- 5 years developing relationships with employers or performing similar functions preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desired
Other:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
The Position is properly performed when:
- The Job Developer averages 7 - 10 placements per month.
- The Job Developer brings in an average of 3 new employers quarterly.
