Job description

About the Texas Democratic Party

Founded in 1846, Texas Democrats continue the march towards a state as great as its promise.

A fair shot for all, that’s what drove Democrats to build this great state, and that is what drives us today. A belief that no matter who you are, what you look like, where you come from, or who you love if you work hard in Texas, you can make it.

We believe democratic government exists to achieve as a community, state, and nation what we cannot achieve as individuals.

We believe in equal opportunity, fairness, freedom, family, community, and a responsibility to ourselves and each other. These are the values our elders passed down to us, the values we hope to share with our children, and the values we expect from our elected officials.

The Texas Democratic Party is a movement of millions of Texans coming together to fight for our Texas values. We know our state cannot succeed when the deck is stacked against working Texans and their families.

About the Role

The Texas Democratic Party is seeking Deputy GOTV Directors to join our Texas Together 2026 Coordinated Campaign, supporting Talarico for Texas and Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.

Deputy GOTV Directors will manage, develop, and support a team of Regional GOTV Directors and GOTV Organizers to build and execute a large-scale voter contact effort. They are responsible for supporting Regional GOTV Directors in their management of their teams, troubleshooting problems as they arise, coordinating supply distribution across their regions, and ensuring strategic decision-making is informed by feedback from the field.

This position will begin the week of August 17 and end November 15, 2026.

Compensation

Pay

Deputy GOTV Directors are compensated at $6,500 per month.

Benefits

They are eligible for generous benefits including health care, vision, and dental insurance and stipends for cell phone and eligible transit.

Essential Duties

  • Manage and support Regional GOTV Directors: Lead a team of Regional GOTV Directors through weekly one-on-ones, coaching, feedback, etc.
  • Establish a culture of collaboration: Foster accountability, collaboration, learning, and support amidst the fast pace of the campaign. Support Regional GOTV Directors in establishing strong regional culture.
  • Drive voter contact goals: Support and hold organizers accountable for meeting voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer leadership goals.
  • Communication structures: Maintain strong communication structures, including daily check in and check outs, team chats, reporting channels, shared calendars, etc.
  • Drive Training and Development: lend expertise in creating and facilitating GOTV trainings for staff and volunteers, draft and distribute one-pagers, guides, and written reference resources for staff.
  • Share strategy: Share campaign priorities, strategic shifts, and plans to ensure organizers understand how goals contribute to overall success.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems: Respond quickly to challenges to keep organizing programs running effectively.
  • Reporting: Support development of reporting structures. Analyze reports and recommend strategic action based on analysis.

  • Experience as a Regional Organizing Director
  • Training, coaching, instruction, or facilitation experience

Time Commitment

This position will begin the week of August 17 and end November 15, 2026. This is an intensive, time-limited role at a pivotal moment for Texas Democrats.

Equal Opportunity & Commitment to Diversity

The Texas Democratic Party is an equal opportunity employer and it is our policy to recruit, hire, train, promote and administer any and all personnel actions without regard to sex, race, age, color, creed, national origin, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, veteran status, gender identity or expression, ethnic identity or physical disability, or any other legally protected basis. Women and members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

To apply, please complete this application and submit a current resume and brief cover letter written in your own words -- anywhere between 200 and 400 words is perfect. We prefer to read human-generated content and encourage applicants to forgo generative AI in favor of less polished cover letters. This isn’t a spelling test!

In the cover letter, please mention something you wish Senior Management would have done to support you when you were an organizer or middle manager, and how doing that thing yourself will strengthen our program.
