Résumé du poste:

Department/Group Overview:

Disney Entertainment & ESPN & Technology

On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, we’re reimagining ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while also transforming Disney’s media business for the future. Whether that’s evolving our streaming and digital products in new and immersive ways, powering worldwide advertising and distribution to maximize flexibility and efficiency, or delivering Disney’s unmatched entertainment and sports content, every day is a moment to make a difference to partners and to hundreds of millions of people around the world.

  • Building the future of Disney’s media business: DE&E Technologists are designing and building the infrastructure that will power Disney’s media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

  • Reach & Scale: The products and platforms this group builds and operates delight millions of consumers every minute of every day – from Disney+ and Hulu, to ABC News and Entertainment, to ESPN and ESPN+, and much more.

  • Innovation: We develop and execute groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and enhance how audiences experience sports, entertainment & news.

Content Platform & Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering Disney’s entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and managing a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also manages technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Content Platform Data Engineering team, focusing on building and enhancing platform capabilities with a strong emphasis on supporting our existing Datawarehouse.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines and data models that enable analytics, downstream applications, operational workflows, and visualizations. You will work closely with product managers, software engineers, data consumers, and cross-functional partners to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with business needs across Disney’s direct-to-consumer lines of business.

You will work closely with an existing team working on expanding Disney’s internal capability set. Leveraging software engineering principles and cloud infrastructure, you will build robust, extensible services that drive autonomous workflows at scale.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Write and Maintain Software Solutions: Design, write, test, and deploy high-quality code to develop reliable, maintainable data solutions.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with platform engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions effectively support business goals and content strategies.

  • Production Support: Monitor and optimize production systems, ensuring platform stability, performance, and uptime.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in data engineering or architecture.

  • Proven track record of building and supporting production data pipelines and data platforms.

  • Extensive experience with event streaming systems (e.g., Kafka) and data store technologies like Snowflake and Databricks.

  • Proficiency with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools such as AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, and Apache Airflow.

  • Deep understanding of data modeling concepts and robust SQL development.

  • Expertise in designing scalable, cost-effective cloud architecture and infrastructure.

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.

  • Full-lifecycle application development experience, including unit testing, code reviews, and documentation.

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies in a collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent oral, written, and cross-functional communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, or managed data services)

  • Knowledge of streaming and batch data processing frameworks

  • Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, and observability practices

  • Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or downstream application use cases at scale

  • Exposure to integrating AI driven solutions into production systems

  • Previous work experience in media or entertainment technology, particularly in content distribution and media supply chain.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
