Development Manager

The Development Manager builds, manages, and grows the annual giving program by securing financial support from current and prospective mid-level and major donors through various communication, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL :

The Development Manager builds, manages, and grows the annual giving program by securing financial support from current and prospective mid-level and major donors through various communication, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Key responsibilities include developing direct mail appeals, managing monthly giving programs, and supporting the employee giving program. Additionally, the Development manager will be tasked with researching and analyzing potential donors, personally soliciting individuals, planning and executing donor events and engagement activities, and overseeing all related stewardship materials and communications. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 1-2 years and focuses on the creation of mid-level donor strategies, systems, processes and programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

1. Builds, and manages the annual giving program by securing annual financial support from mid-level and major donors to meet budgeted goals. Develops comprehensive communication and solicitation strategies involving direct mail, email, phone, personal visitation, and events focused on shaping a sustainable pipeline of annual support, with the goal of building a robust donor pipeline

2. Leads fundraising projects, monthly giving programs, special appeals, Peer-to-Peer fundraising, outside events and other elements that support the annual fund, including the New Lives Luncheon.

3. Manages a portfolio of prospects and midlevel donors.

4. Conducts research and analysis of current and prospective, individual and family foundation donors, their capacity and philanthropic interests. Implements a prospect identification, portfolio assignment, and tracking process as needed

5. In partnership with the Marketing and Communications team, manages and maintains internal and external materials, such as procedures and processes, collateral and communications including print, email, and social media.

6. Works in partnership with the Community Engagement team as appropriate to align on Goodwill goals and external engagement opportunities.

7. Leading and Developing Talent : May provide training to coworkers or others in the organization.

10. Technical Skill : Expert knowledge of particular field of specialization. Advanced knowledge of organizations technologies and practices.

11. Community Engagement : Understands social trends driving Goodwills community engagement initiatives, and champions initiatives. Is aware of Goodwills community partner organizations and participates in volunteer opportunities as pertains to role and interest. Participates in industry / knowledge groups.

12. Responsible for completing other duties / responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS :

1. Associates Degree or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 7 years experience. A minimum of 5 years specifically in fundraising and annual fund managerial experience preferred.

2. The role will periodically require travel throughout the region between Milwaukee and Chicago; it will also include special events that may take place in the evenings and / or weekends.

When determining placement within the salary range for this position Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands and other qualifying criteria. It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on facts and circumstances of each case.
