Location: Although this position is hybrid you must be within 100 miles of Lexington MA to be considered for this role

About the Role:
Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to support one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. The Software Engineer will work with a team that supports the Department of Defense (DoD) by designing and developing modern sensor systems and components to enable a ballistic missile defense system. The team needs a software engineer to develop advanced sensor control and signal processing systems. Software will be developed within a modern, object-oriented, modular open-systems architecture primarily using C++, Linux, and publish-subscribe middleware. The focus will be primarily on software for controlling radars, but could also extend to telemetry and optical systems.

- Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years - Software/Algorithm Development
- 5 years - C/C++ Programming
- 5 years - C++11 or later, Stand Template Library,Boost library
- 5 years - Object Oriented Software Design and Development

Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of C++ object-oriented programming with several years experience applying this knowledge to complex software architectures
- Proven ability to quickly and effectively learn new technologies and programming languages, adapt to new environments and methodologies, and work outside one's own comfort zone
- Experience with modern software development practices (e.g. spiral development), version control systems, debugging tools, and coordination/collaboration tools
- Experience with software development within a Linux/UNIX environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other programming/scripting languages such as Java, C, Python, MATLAB, and shell scripting
- Experience with publish-subscribe middleware, parallel programming, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with UNIX-like operating system architectures, network programming, and real-time programming
- Familiarity with the architecture of x86-based computer hardware
- Familiarity with basic UNIX system and network configuration and administration to the extent that it aids in software development
- Familiarity with, or a strong desire to learn about, processing and control of active sensing technologies such as Radars
- Desire and ability to participate in field testing which may involve travel (Huntsville or Kwaj)

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursed up to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.
Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) - Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.
Work location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington facility. Candidates should expect to be onsite 3 days a week on average.
Interview process: Initial pre-screen with hiring manager. If the candidate advances to the next round, interviews will be with the Division Leaders and Technical Staff Team.
