Job Summary & Responsibilities
Onto Innovation is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our team in Wilmington, Massachusetts location. This role is part of teamdeveloping our next-generation proprietary semiconductor capital equipmentused in inspection and metrology for advanced packaging applications, including AI and other emerging technologies.
Specialized Expertise
This position requires deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience inMotion control systems for precision equipment
Key Responsibilities
Translate customer and product requirements into functional specifications
Design and implement algorithms for defectdetection and metrology
Design and implement software for motion control sub-systems
Motion profile tuning
Conduct design verification and system-level integration testing
Present technical solutions to application and product management teams
Support beta installations and evaluations at customer sites
Qualifications
3 years of C++/C# software development experience
Experience in controlling mechanical and electrical systems
Experience in motion control, motion tuning, DIO
Experience in semiconductor capital equipment development desired
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%

Compensation & Growth
• Base Salary Range:
$96,800.00 - $145,200.00, offered in good faith and based on experience, location, and qualifications.
Additional Rewards: Annual bonus opportunities and potential long-term incentives tied to both company and individual success.
