The selected professional will be responsible for managing and mentoring structural engineers and designers, leading the development and review of structural deliverables, and ensuring strict compliance with applicable building codes, federal criteria, and client-specific design standards. This is a technical leadership role focused on structural design excellence, engineering supervision, and delivery quality for buildings and related facilities, not a project management role.

* Relocation Bonus is Available *

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and supervise a team of structural engineers, designers, and BIM/modeling staff in the planning, analysis, and design of new buildings, renovations, rehabilitations, and facility upgrades.
  • Serve as the senior technical leader for structural scope on assigned projects, providing direction on framing systems, lateral systems, foundations, gravity systems, and rehabilitation strategies for steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and specialty structural systems.
  • Plan, perform, and oversee structural analysis and design from concept development through construction documents, including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawing production.
  • Review and approve structural calculations, plans, details, specifications, and technical reports prepared by others, ensuring technical accuracy, constructability, consistency, and compliance with company QA/QC standards.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and criteria, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, TMS, NDS, and other applicable state, local, and federal requirements.
  • Lead structural coordination with architects and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, code-compliant, and constructible building designs.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record, when required, for building structural projects.
  • Support federal design execution by applying UFC, UFGS, and other agency-specific criteria relevant to projects for NASA, FAA, USACE, and similar clients.
  • Provide technical mentorship, training, and performance guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, and support recruiting, staff development, and retention of structural engineering talent.
  • Participate in site investigations, existing-condition assessments, field observations, and construction-phase support activities, including responses to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluation of field conditions.
  • Support proposals, technical approach development, and interview preparation as a subject-matter expert for structural building pursuits.
  • Able to travel a few days a month with short notice

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work.
  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering, plus 8 years of related experience in structural engineering for building projects, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain additional state licensure by comity as needed.
  • 3 years of experience leading, supervising, or formally mentoring structural engineering staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in the structural design of building projects through multiple phases, including concept design, detailed design, construction documents, and construction administration support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applicable structural design codes and standards for buildings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of structural engineering experience in building design.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record for building structures.
  • Experience with federal building/facility projects and familiarity with UFC, UFGS, and other federal design criteria.
  • Experience supporting projects for NASA, FAA, USACE, DoD, or other federal clients.
  • Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, RAM, RISA-3D, SAP2000, SAFE, or similar tools, and proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam.
  • Experience in the design and assessment of existing buildings, renovations, seismic upgrades, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination and communicate technical issues clearly to internal teams, clients, reviewers, and stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available for this position.
