Job description

The Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) supports system integrators in building stronger, more competitive businesses in the global industrial automation market. Through certification, benchmarking data, peer collaboration, and education, CSIA equips its members to deliver high-quality automation solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase efficiency across modern manufacturing and industrial operations.

As Director of Membership, you will lead member growth and engagement by building and converting a pipeline of prospective members while strengthening connections across the existing community. You will own the strategy and execution of CSIA’s membership function, including recruitment and retention, and build the processes and infrastructure that support long-term growth.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will partner closely with the Director of Marketing to ensure messaging, campaigns, and sponsorship offerings reflect what matters most to members. You will also work with CSIA’s Association Management Company (AMC), which provides day-to-day administrative and tactical support, allowing you to stay focused on strategic priorities and member-facing work.

In this role, you will maintain a consistent cadence of outreach with senior leaders at system integrators and partner companies, using member insights and market data to refine targeting and clearly communicate CSIA’s value. You will guide prospects from first conversation through join, and strengthen onboarding, engagement, and renewals by improving the processes that support each stage of the membership lifecycle.

CSIA members—system integrators and the vendors that support them—play a critical role in advancing manufacturing and industrial operations worldwide. By growing and supporting this community, you extend the reach of the standards, resources, and connections that enable members to compete, innovate, and deliver results for their clients.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role comes from a proactive, service-oriented approach and a genuine interest in helping system integrators build stronger businesses. You will build and expand your impact over your first year as follows.

Within one month:

Build a strong foundation by understanding CSIA’s mission, value proposition, and strategic priorities, while developing relationships with staff, AMC partners, and key member contacts, and gaining familiarity with the breadth of companies that make up CSIA’s membership.

Within three months:

Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound member and prospect communication, deepen relationships to understand member needs and pain points, and begin mapping the membership journey while supporting key initiatives such as the 2026 Member Survey.

Within six months:

Establish core membership processes, including onboarding, check-ins, and exit interviews, and develop a targeted list of prospective members with a plan for personalized outreach.

Within nine months:

Refine and implement a structured approach to member engagement and retention, and use internal and external data to define the total addressable system integrator market and strengthen the prospect pipeline.

Within 12 months:

Build a repeatable approach to recruiting and engaging members across CSIA’s established regions, begin assessing opportunities to expand internationally (including South America, Europe, and Asia Pacific), and use membership data to segment audiences and tailor engagement strategies.

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits

  • CSIA operates in a fully remote work environment with standard business hours based in U.S. Central Time. Occasional company-paid travel is required for conferences, team meetings, trade shows, or member meetings, including potential international travel. CSIA’s staffing model includes direct-hire staff and a partnership with the AMC. This position is a direct employee of CSIA.
  • The budgeted salary range for this position is $110K–$125K, commensurate with experience, plus eligibility for a cash bonus program. CSIA offers a benefits package; highlights include employer-paid Blue Cross PPO health insurance, a 3% 401(k) match, and generous paid time off plus paid holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to assigned ‎committees and task forces.
  • Represent the association at industry trade shows and events as needed.
  • Ideate and collaborate on the creation and adaptation of CSIA products and services to drive membership and awareness.

Membership Growth & Revenue

  • Implement a membership strategy focused on recruitment, engagement, and retention, and analyze the impact to modify the strategy as necessary.
  • Identify and cultivate prospective members.
  • Achieve or exceed annual membership growth, renewal, and revenue targets.
  • Define and evolve the membership value proposition.
  • Collaborate and contribute to budget development.

Member Acquisition, Engagement & Retention

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for member and membership inquiries, driving a personalized experience for all members.
  • Craft acquisition, retention, and re-engagement campaigns for members in collaboration with the Director of Marketing.
  • Increase business development opportunities around sponsorship and advertising, utilizing the proposal and presentations drafted collaboratively with the Director of Marketing.
  • Procure member-centered content for publication.
  • Design and deliver membership content ‎for the CSIA Annual Conference.

Data, Analytics & Operations

  • Manage and optimize the association’s AMS and membership data, working with ‎the AMC to ensure database hygiene, growth, and relevancy.
  • Analyze and report on key metrics, including acquisition, ‎retention, engagement, churn, and lifetime membership value.
  • Use data insights to refine strategies and improve the member experience.
  • Develop the annual membership survey and present results for strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive experience in membership development, association management, business development, or customer engagement—ideally within a trade or professional association.
  • Demonstrated success growing and retaining a member-based organization or client base through strong relationship management and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Analytical and data-driven approach, with the ability to interpret member and pipeline data to inform priorities and decisions; experience with AMS/CRM platforms (e.g., Rhythm, Personify, NetForum, iMIS, Fonteva, Salesforce) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with volunteer-driven organizations and/or experience in industrial automation or manufacturing is a plus.
