Job description
Job Description

Position Summary

MCG is seeking a QA/QC Engineer (Junior or Senior level) to support quality assurance and quality control across our electrical equipment supply chain.

This role bridges engineering, manufacturing, and field execution — ensuring that all equipment meets MCG standards through document review, factory testing oversight, and on-site inspections.

The ideal candidate will have experience with power distribution equipment and a strong understanding of testing procedures, electrical systems, and quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

QA/QC Oversight

  • Perform QA/QC reviews of manufacturer submittals, shop drawings, and test procedures
  • Verify compliance with MCG standards, project specifications, and applicable codes
  • Ensure consistency across vendors and product lines

Factory Testing & Witnessing

  • Witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) for:
    • Low- and medium-voltage switchboards
    • Circuit breakers (including primary/secondary injection testing)
    • UPS systems and battery systems
    • Generators and ATS equipment
  • Verify test methods, procedures, and results meet MCG criteria
  • Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented

Field QA/QC & Site Support

  • Conduct on-site QA/QC inspections at vendor facilities and customer sites
  • Support commissioning and turnover processes
  • Validate installation quality and adherence to approved documentation

Process Development & Standardization

  • Develop and maintain QA/QC procedures, standards, and checklists
  • Work with QA/QC technicians to improve inspection and testing workflows
  • Drive standardization across manufacturers and projects
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate QA/QC reports, punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
  • Track issues through resolution
  • Maintain organized documentation for project records and turnover packages

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25% travel to:
    • Manufacturer facilities
    • Testing sites
    • Customer project locations
  • Travel expected to decrease as QA/QC team expands and procedures mature

Qualifications

Junior QA/QC Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0–3 years of experience in electrical systems, construction, or manufacturing
  • Basic understanding of power distribution systems
  • Willingness to travel and learn field and factory processes

Senior QA/QC Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Electrical power systems
    • Switchgear / switchboards / UPS / generator systems
    • Factory testing and commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC practices and electrical testing standards
  • Experience leading FATs and interacting with manufacturers

Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)

  • Experience with:
    • Low- and medium-voltage equipment
    • Data center or mission-critical environments
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as:
    • UL, IEEE, NEMA, NEC
  • Hands-on testing experience (megger, primary injection, relay testing, etc.)
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Key Skills

  • Attention to detail and quality mindset
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Organizational and documentation discipline
  • Practical, field-oriented problem solving
