Job description

Technical Account Manager

We're seeking driven, curious people who bring energy to what they do and see challenges as opportunities to learn and improve. Our team of co-owners values enthusiasm, creativity, and a growth mindset, and we're committed to putting those qualities to work on solutions that matter. If you're ready to grow and make an impact, we'd love to be on your team.

As a Technical Account Manager with AWC, you will serve as a trusted advisor to industrial customers by helping them identify, evaluate, and implement automation, instrumentation, and process control solutions that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and operational performance. You will develop strong relationships with customers, technology partners, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders while driving profitable growth across an assigned territory.

This role combines technical expertise, consultative selling, business development, and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of industrial automation and process measurement technologies, a passion for solving customer problems, and the ability to create value through both technical knowledge and exceptional customer service.

How you'll make an impact:

Develop and Grow Customer Relationships

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, building long-term relationships based on trust, expertise, and responsiveness
  • Understand customer operational challenges, maintenance objectives, reliability goals, and business priorities
  • Conduct regular customer visits, discovery meetings, and plant walkthroughs to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Position AWC as a trusted resource by providing technical guidance, application expertise, and consultative support
  • Develop strong relationships with maintenance, operations, engineering, reliability, and procurement stakeholders

Drive Business Development and Territory Growth

  • Build profitable sales growth within existing accounts while actively pursuing new customer opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to expand AWC's presence through solution selling, account penetration, and new business development
  • Develop and execute territory plans that support sales objectives and long-term customer growth
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and relationship development
  • Effectively manage sales forecasts, opportunities, and customer activities within CRM systems

Deliver Technical Solutions and Application Support

  • Provide technical expertise for instrumentation, process control, and automation technologies including: Flow Measurement, Pressure Measurement, Temperature Measurement, Control Valves, Pressure Management and Protection Systems, Industrial Controls, Steam System Products, Gas Detection, Pneumatics, Sensors and Related Technologies
  • Assist customers in selecting and implementing solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, safety, and productivity
  • Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), quotations, and technical recommendations based on customer requirements
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and technical training sessions
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and technical support throughout the customer lifecycle

Coordinate Project and Order Execution

  • Manage opportunities from initial customer engagement through project completion
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, operations, suppliers, and logistics teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Support customers throughout the order lifecycle, ensuring products and services are delivered on time and according to expectations
  • Communicate proactively regarding project status, timelines, and potential issues
  • Help resolve challenges quickly to maintain customer confidence and project success

Create Visibility and Market Awareness

  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive activity, and market developments
  • Identify strategic opportunities that help customers improve performance and reduce operational risk
  • Share market intelligence and customer insights with internal teams and technology partners
  • Document best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization

Skills You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in technical sales, account management, or a related role within industrial automation, instrumentation, or process control markets
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of industrial control and measurement technologies
  • Experience supporting industrial customers through solution-based or consultative selling approaches
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and customer-focused mindset
  • Experience supporting CAPEX projects, maintenance activities, or MRO initiatives
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as required
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills

Here's What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Emerson process measurement and control technologies
  • Experience supporting chemical, refining, power generation, water/wastewater, manufacturing, or industrial process customers
  • Proven track record of growing customer relationships and achieving sales objectives
  • Experience with flow, pressure, temperature, valve, and pressure management applications
  • Demonstrated ability to become a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal teams
  • Strong understanding of industrial reliability, maintenance, and operational improvement initiatives

The Rewards:

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • 401(K) Match
  • Competitive Pay
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Package
  • Employer Paid Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay
  • Career Development Opportunities
