Overview

Saint Francis Hospital is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to join our Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Unit, a newly renovated 32-bed unit and nationally recognized Center of Excellence for Heart Failure.

This leadership role supports patients with acute and chronic CHF, AFib, CAD, STEMI, pacemaker/ICD placements, and future LVAD services. The Nurse Leader I provides frontline leadership, operational oversight, and staff support while promoting evidence-based care and a respectful, healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise charge nurses and frontline clinical staff
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, assignments, and unit throughput
  • Support performance management, coaching, and staff development
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards
  • Promote evidence-based practice and clinical excellence
  • Lead teams through change, improvement initiatives, and innovation
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and healing work environment
  • Build strong relationships through compassionate, effective communication

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active RN license in Connecticut
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Leadership-related certifications
