Job description

Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. Here at HSBC we use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.

In compliance with applicable laws, HSBC is committed to employing only those who are authorized to work in the US. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as HSBC will not engage in immigration sponsorship for this position.

The Third Party Management (TPM) team, which delivers this service to HSBC’s first line businesses and functions, is an on-shore capability located in HSBC’s key regions and countries. The role of the Senior Manager, TPM in each region is to lead the topics of Third Party Risk, Contracts Lifecycle Management and Supplier Management - collectively Third Party Management. The role holder will: interface with key Local / Global Businesses, Functions and stakeholders to drive support and improvement across the three topics underpinning TPM; tailor programs of work to improve third party management and control; provide Management Information (MI) and analytics from a risk, supplier management, outsourcing, and materiality perspective; and support with first line oversight of key third parties and regulatory matters.

The role holder will need to be a credible operational Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Third Party Management and the regulatory context in financial services, with first-hand experience of developing, leading and improving aspects of third party risk and supplier management in large, complex organisations. In addition, the proven capability to network, communicate, influence and make strategic change happen pragmatically at pace will be key to success in this role.

As our Third Party Management Manager, you will:

  • Identify processes and control weaknesses in any aspect of the process and ensure appropriate actions are put in place to rectify them. Work closely with second and third line to ensure an effective third Line of Defense (LOD) model is in place for Third Party risk in HSBC
  • Provide HSBC businesses and functions with consolidated, clear and accurate MI and data around their specific third party engagements, contracts and aggregated supplier performance metrics, as well as greatly enhanced visibility of which third parties they use
  • Play a key role in streamlining the current local third party onboarding process while preserving the necessary coverage of operational risk
  • Provide leadership on the topics of end-to-end third party risk and support an extensive range of stakeholders across HSBC
  • Work closely and effectively with Risk Domain heads, Service Delivery teams and Operational Risk leads to deliver clear and reportable solutions for TPM and its associated controls
  • Maintain discipline around change programs, governance, reporting, steering and coordination. Drive the enhancement and fight for the topic appropriately when conflicting priorities appear
  • Maintain and evolve TPM capability in the region for HSBC while driving operational efficiencies through the ongoing process streamlining initiatives in progress
  • Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, organizational structure, and the impact of new technology. This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • TPM technical depth: Third Party Risk, Third Party Management, contract lifecycle management, supplier performance, post-contract monitoring

  • Change & implementation delivery: Process mapping, bottleneck removal, streamlining / time reduction without weakening controls, governance
  • Stakeholder influence & collaboration: Influence with COOs/engagement owners, second LOD domains; conflict handling; building forums/ways of working
  • Commerciality & supplier value mindset: Control design, supplier performance levers, service catalogue/unit cost thinking
  • Hands-on experience delivering TPM improvements in a regulated financial services environment (or equivalent heavily regulated), with outputs designed to withstand audit/regulatory scrutiny
  • Collaborative Mind Set: Ability to work effectively with first LOD (engagement owners/COOs) and second LOD risk domains, and partner with third LOD/Internal Audit
  • Senior stakeholder influence (e.g., COOs, risk domain leads) and being treated as a trusted SME on TPM topics

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow.
