Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to engage experienced K-12 educators, administrators, and specialists to improve AI systems' understanding of classroom instruction, school operations, and student development. Contributors will apply their expertise in areas such as lesson planning, differentiated instruction, special education, school leadership, and district-level policy to evaluate and enhance AI performance on K-12-specific tasks. This is a project-based opportunity with potential for ongoing engagement depending on performance and project needs. Key Responsibilities - Review and evaluate AI-generated outputs related to lesson planning, student assessment, classroom management, and instructional design - Create realistic scenarios based on K-12 workflows — IEP development, parent-teacher communication, curriculum alignment to standards, behavior intervention planning - Annotate, label, and validate data across K-12 use cases (e.g., differentiated instruction, grade-level appropriateness, formative assessment) - Provide structured feedback on AI accuracy in areas such as pedagogical best practices, state / federal education regulations (IDEA, Title I, ESSA), and age-appropriate content - Collaborate asynchronously with research teams to refine evaluation frameworks for K-12 education AI Ideal Qualifications - 3+ years of professional experience in K-12 education (public, private, or charter) - Background in one or more areas such as : - Classroom teaching (any subject / grade level) - Special education or student support services - School administration (principal, assistant principal, department head) - District-level roles (curriculum director, superintendent's office, HR) - Instructional coaching, professional development, or EdTech integration - Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate classroom and school-level workflows into structured evaluation tasks - Clear written communication and attention to detail Compensation Note This project is expected to begin on an effective hourly rate, but will transition to a model where experts are compensated based on throughput of quality work rather than a flat accruing hourly rate.
