Lead UX Designer
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Remote)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for a Lead UX Designer to act as a key designer on a flagship, customer-facing website. The position involves frequent executive-facing presentations and requires a designer who can execute design work daily, not just manage. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a adaptable mindset, capable of shifting focus as priorities change and confidently defending design decisions within a lean, fast-paced team environment. This role offers a growth opportunity toward lead-level responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary designer for the main flagship website, focusing on customer-facing digital experiences.
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries, evolving the system by creating new components and patterns.
- Conduct self-directed user research and usability testing to inform and validate design decisions.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups, translating concepts into comps and storyboards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design consistency and quality across all digital products.
- Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to stakeholders, including executive-level presentations.
- Partner with business and product leaders to align design decisions with business goals.
- Provide quality assurance on creative deliverables and oversee the work of multiple UX projects.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of UX experience with a strong portfolio showcasing 3-5 end-to-end case studies and a clear process from discovery to development. Experience with customer-facing products is required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Must possess analytics proficiency, with the ability to pull data to measure and articulate design impact.
- Leadership skills- leading/ mentoring other designers
- Strong Presenter Skills - self starter with a strong internal drive
- Portfolio showcasing strong design principles and successful product outcome• Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Expertise in user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Ability to independently lead projects and manage the full UX process
- Experience mentoring junior designers and fostering team growth
- Proven experience with user interface design and adherence to guidelines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Experience with Agile workflows and iterative design processes
- Ability to align design decisions with business goals and strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating AI into a UX workflow or familiarity with LLMs.
- Previous work on an AI-powered product that has shipped to production.
