Job description

Product Owner

The Product Owner is responsible for translating GT's product roadmap into clear, actionable requirements within a defined product domain, grounded in problem and solution discovery. This role owns day-to-day backlog health, clarifies outcomes and acceptance criteria, and helps ensure teams are delivering work that supports business priorities, customer needs, quality, and regulatory commitments.

The Product Owner partners closely with IT Development, Operations, Compliance, UX Research, Launch & Enablement, and other stakeholders to evaluate incoming requests, assess impact, support prioritization, and guide solutions from discovery through delivery.

Hybrid (business and team presence as needed; flexibility based on candidate)

Responsibilities

  • Break down approved roadmap initiatives into epics, features, user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct problem and solution discovery to refine requirements and scope, in partnership with Director of Product and UX Research.
  • Coordinate with UX Research, data/analytics, operations, support, and compliance to validate requirements and solution intent.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog for assigned domain, ensuring items are prioritized, refined, and ready for development.
  • Partner with the Director of Product and stakeholders to assess roadmap candidates, tradeoffs, business value, urgency, risk, and dependencies.
  • Triage and assess incoming requests, clarifying problem statements, scope, impact, and recommended next steps.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning support, acceptance review, and ongoing requirement clarification for IT Development teams.
  • Represent customer, operational, regulatory, and business needs in product decisions and backlog sequencing.
  • Monitor delivery progress, surface risks or blockers, and help align stakeholders on changes to scope, timing, or priority.
  • Support launch readiness by providing release context, target user impacts, acceptance criteria, and operational implications to Launch & Enablement.
  • Use product metrics, feedback, incidents, and adoption signals to recommend backlog adjustments and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Manager, or similar role in technology-enabled operations.
  • Strong experience translating roadmap themes into actionable requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Proficiency with backlog management, agile delivery practices, and cross-functional product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business value, operational impact, regulatory considerations, dependencies, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Experience working with engineering, operations, compliance, support, and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation, written communication, and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Comfort working in complex, multi-state or regulated environments, preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid), business administration, and enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, claims, payroll, tax, customer-facing systems) preferred
  • Experience with product/project tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Aha!, Productboard, or similar platforms.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data, feedback, and outcomes to guide prioritization.
  • Customer empathy and systems thinking, with the ability to connect detailed requirements to broader product outcomes.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar experience preferred
