Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed engineering designs for metro transport infrastructure within central office environments.
  • Evaluate equipment placement, rack capacity, and cooling requirements.
  • Ensure infrastructure aligns with engineering standards and deployment guidelines.
  • Support decision-making on equipment selection, compatibility, and configuration.
  • Manage equipment lifecycle activities including ordering, procurement, tracking shipments, and managing shortages.
  • Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and engineering teams to drive delivery.
  • Contribute to documentation, design validation, and engineering standards adherence.
Required Qualifications

Experience: Experience in telecom engineering, particularly within central office or transport environments. Hands-on experience with infrastructure design and deployment.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of network equipment, rack/space constraints, and cooling requirements. Ability to make technical decisions regarding equipment compatibility and usage. Experience working with equipment vendors (, Cisco, Juniper).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting transport or central office environments for a major telecommunications provider.
  • Familiarity with specific systems and tools such as Canvas and CND (formerly ICON).
  • Experience with equipment ordering, supply chain coordination, and inventory/warehouse processes.
  • Background in Detail Engineering, Central Engineering, or similar roles.
Key Traits
  • Engineering-minded with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to balance technical design with execution constraints.
  • Proactive problem solver, especially in equipment shortages or design limitations.
  • Comfortable bridging engineering and project execution responsibilities.
