Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to ensure our products meet stringent quality standards and customer specifications through rigorous analysis, inspection, and process validation.

This role supports mass production and new model development, with a focus on customer-facing responsibilities, continuous improvement, and compliance with industry standards, particularly in automotive injection molding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive PPAP documentation, including process flows, PFMEAs, and control plans, adhering to AIAG and BDA processes.
  • Conduct dimensional analysis, capability studies, and statistical process control (SPC), including calculating CP and CPK for customer submission.
  • Investigate customer complaints, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using tools like 5Y and Fishbone diagrams, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform final product inspections, maintain calibration records, and manage gage control systems and Measuring & Test Equipment (MTE).
  • Support new model development by contributing to FMEAs, control plan development, risk feasibility assessments, and lessons learned.
  • Interface with customer engineering teams (e.g., Honda) to define critical characteristics and ensure alignment with customer expectations.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R, to validate measurement processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Maintain compliance with IATF 16949 standards and participate in audits, ideally as a certified lead auditor or auditor of the system.
  • Utilize tools like Hexagon for dimensional analysis (programming knowledge not required).
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support quality initiatives and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality or manufacturing, ideally in automotive injection molding.
  • Strong knowledge of PPAP, PFMEA, Gage R&R, LEAN, Six Sigma, SPC, and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Proficiency in AIAG and BDA core documentation processes (process flows, FMEAs, control plans) and CP/CPK calculations.
  • Experience with dimensional analysis, capability studies, and problem-solving tools (e.g., 5Y, Fishbone diagrams).
  • Familiarity with calibration and gage control systems (teachable if not experienced).
  • Certified lead auditor or auditor for IATF 16949 preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

You should be proficient in:

  • Statistical process control (SPC)
  • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
