[job_card.job_description]Installation, troubleshooting and repair of complex networked and non-networked fire alarm systems with limited or no supervision Assisting our Construction Fire Alarm Division in troubleshooting, inspecting and testing large scale networked fire alarm / mass notification systems for extended periods of time Perform fire alarm, sprinkler, and extinguisher inspections Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements Assist in training and directing the day to day work of a helper As a fire alarm service technician, must Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge of industry standards for fire alarm systems installation Experience with a variety of system manufacturers Troubleshooting skills including, researching on line, system manuals to resolve problems Experience with conduit bending, understanding of blue prints and wiring schematics and layout of system installations Exceptional communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors Must be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre-established courses of action for completing or progressing with projects and assignments Must adhere to all company policy and procedures May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness May work in areas with exposure to moderate / high noise levels May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools. While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand / walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable / wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus May require travel (typically not overnight) Prior military experience HS diploma or GED equivalent
