Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is a dynamic and student-centered institution located in Phoenix, Arizona. As part of the Maricopa County Community College District, one of the largest community college systems in the nation, PVCC is committed to transforming lives through learning, service, and leadership. The college offers more than 125 degree and certificate programs, including 37 associate degrees and 46 certificate options available, and more than 150 academic pathways organized by Fields of Interest to help students align their educational journey with career goals.   • Job Summary

    This position is scheduled to begin August 2026 . Instructs students from a variety of backgrounds in computer information systems (CIS) classes related to networking, programming, and cybersecurity courses such as ethical hacking or similar, and in accordance with the college's learning-centered philosophy. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student promote student success. Demonstrates passion to serving students in CIS courses and commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties. The instruction will teach in both traditional and non-traditional settings such Learning Communities, short term courses and accelerated programs as well as hybrid and / or online / live-online courses. Collaborates in development of leadership of programs for students and with business, industry and the community to develop opportunities for students; builds relationships with high school and university institutions in support of transfer pathways; facilitates activities outside the classroom for students such as in undergraduate student research, STEAM, and experiences for students in business / industry. May teach at the PVCC Black Mountain site as well as the Union Hills site. May teach evening as well as day classes.

    Essential Functions

    Supervises and instructs students, including students in high school bridge programs, in a classroom and / or lab setting, online or hybrid, accelerated, and other alternative schedules and formats : uses learning centered strategies to engage students and promote student success; demonstrates innovation in teaching and learning and the scholarship of learning by focusing on student learning. retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery or scheduling techniques.

    Develops instructional materials and curriculum; develops written syllabi / course outlines and course materials : assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades examinations and other teaming activities; hires, supervises and evaluates adjunct faculty; participates in division and college assessment and program review processes : uses assessment and evaluation results to improve instruction and student learning.

    Maintains office hours to assist, tutor, and advise students to promote learning, citizenship and personal development; works with students outside or the classroom on instructional activities and projects such as clubs, undergraduate student research, STEAM programs and activities, and internships with business / industry; develops and cultivates relationships with high school and university institutions to develop and promote transfer pathways for students.

    Minimum Qualifications

    For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and / or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following :

    Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR

    Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR

    A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR

    A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR

    A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and / or graduate credits in the teaching field

    Desired Qualifications

    A. Master's Degree or higher in computer information system or related cybersecurity discipline

    B. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level with community college preferred

    C. Experience using student engagement or collaborative / active learning strategies

    D. Experience developing and teaching online or hybrid format computer courses at post-secondary level

    E. Experience teaching computer courses such as networking, programming, cybersecurity

    F. Evidence of networking, cybersecurity or programming work experience

    G. Demonstrated evidence working with faculty, staff, and / or students from a wide variety of backgrounds
