Primary Purpose

Proctor exams in a computer-based and paper-and-pencil testing center for students, staff and community members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to provide test security, maintain confidentiality and accessibility when delivering exams.

  • Maintain the security of instructor’s exams by confirming the identity of testing candidates, and physically controlling access to tests.

  • Responsible for tracking candidates admitted to testing, in accordance with secure check-in procedures, and monitor attendance continuously throughout the entire exam session.

  • Comply with all applicable legal requirements relating to the activities of contracted and ADA related testing conducted by the area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned as they pertain to the overall objective of the position.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

  • Ability to follow explicit directives of multiple test vendors.

  • Ability to secure and track high-stakes testing materials.

  • Ability to troubleshoot testing software from a varied and constantly changing mix of testing companies and outside colleges.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision within a “team environment.”

  • Ability to stay current with curriculum by engaging faculty and fellow test proctors with regard to testing procedures (e.g.; Canvas, lockdown browsers, CLEP , Certiport, PearsonVUE, and state of Oregon certifications).

  • Ability to use software programs and database systems which include Microsoft Office Suite, email, website editing, basic desktop publishing, and modern office equipment.

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity.

  • Must be able to be flexible with work schedule and travel throughout College district as needed.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills, using English language with or without the use of an interpreter.

  • Ability to communicate information effectively regarding College policies and procedures to students.

  • Ability to manage conflicts within and/or between groups and to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, set work priorities, and manage workload.

Ergonomic Requirements

Work is performed in a fast-paced office, with a customer service counter. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work that requires logging examinees into testing workstations and maintaining vigilance to assure test security. Far visual acuity to actively proctor examinees is an essential requirement. Employees will need to have an ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting under 20 pounds may occur. Working hours are regular per the established work schedule. Computer screen is used more than 50 percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • One year of professional level office work with technical acumen.

Special Necessary Qualifications:

  • Certified by the PearsonVUE Testing Program, or the ability to complete certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university. Experience working with computer-based high-stakes testing programs.

Experience:

  • Prior Customer Service experience.
