AWS-JAVA Technical Lead
Initial Duration: 6 month Contract to Hire
Location: ONSITE Hybrid > Hartford CT or Charlotte, NC preferred (OPEN TO REMOTE)

Responsibilities / Job Description:

• Hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC etc .
• Experience with Web Services (SOAP and Rest).
• Writing and using scalable and secure API's
• mazon Web Services (AWS ) usage includes but not limited to Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, AWSBatch, AWSDirectory .
• Use DevOps and CI/CD tools. Develops Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation templates, YAML files, build specifications, and Lambda functions to have a completely automated build and release process for all AWS resource infrastructure and code artifacts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Math, or any Engineering.
• wareness of full software development life cycle practices and the ability to follow source code management, code quality and testing practices.
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience in application software solution development and execution. Software development knowledge using AWS resources like Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge is preferred .
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, XML, JSON , JDBC etc. Along with experience in creating Web Service (SOAP and Rest) using Java Spring boot.
• Understanding of Batch and MQ.
• 3+ years of systems design experience along with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies. Experience using GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, uDeploy , Rally, checkmarx etc or AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy and AWS CodeStar.
• IaC (Infrastructure as Code) experience, like CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Experience with one or more relational database technologies such as Postgres or Oracle.
• Familiar with Agile methodology. Experience working in an Agile or SAFe development environment.
• Proven ability to work with cross functional teams.
• Possess analytical, problem solving and communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization and influence leadership.

KEY REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Prefer Event model experience
• They use CloudFormation and Terraform on cloud templates
• Must have 3+ years in a LEAD role ( Tech Lead role not managing tasks but 100% hands-on team go-to resource)
• Those with Insurance or Group Benefits (even if it is healthcare) will make the top interview list
• This team works with case management and case activation in Group Benefits at Insurance which interacts with the Policy Administration system
• This role needs to have experience in both Java and AWS. We will be standing up new AWS infrastructure and APIs to service our GB policy admin system. This is a multi-year program.
• What type of development will this contractor be doing? (Back end, front end, full stack?) and what will they be responsible for developing?
• - Mostly back end
• What type of application will they be developing? Will this contractor primarily be working on new development or maintaining the current environment?
• - New development for our GB policy admin application

Will this contractor be testing the application/software they are developing?

• -Yes. All our engineers are expected to do some level of automation testing
