Job description

Post Rehabilitation Services is looking for a Clinical Fellow CF to fill a full-time position in our skilled nursing facility. Your mentored professional experience here is the first step in becoming an independent provider of speech-language pathology clinical services. Join a respected team delivering personalized, high-quality care to residents.

This is a dedicated CFY position for new graduates pursuing ASHA CCC-SLP certification. You will have direct access to FEES and standardized assessments, providing valuable opportunities to enhance your clinical skills and competency.

We fulfill and exceed the state and ASHA requirements for supervision, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive experience to help you successfully complete your training as a skilled and independent clinician. In addition to your direct supervisor, additional, unlimited support from our Clinical Speech Director is also available to you.

Why Choose to Work as a CFY SLP in a Skilled Nursing Facility?

Working in an SNF offers unique rewards that many CFY Speech-Language Pathologists find deeply fulfilling as they launch their careers:

  • Build lasting relationships with residents and see meaningful, long-term progress in communication, cognition, swallowing safety, and overall independence; gaining hands-on experience that accelerates your professional growth and confidence while experiencing fulfilling and meaningful life engagement with elders.
  • Enjoy a diverse caseload with varied diagnoses, allowing you to apply and expand your full skill set in functional, real-world rehab; ideal for meeting CFY hours and competencies.
  • Collaborate closely in a supportive interdisciplinary team, where your expertise is valued and you receive direct guidance to impact resident quality of life and prevent complications.
  • Benefit from structured mentorship by an engaged supervisor (plus access to our Clinical Speech Director and current CFs/Supervisors from nearby facilities), competitive pay potential in nursing facilities, and the perfect foundation to make a real difference in geriatric care amid growing demand, while successfully completing your CFY.

In this Clinical Fellowship Year Speech-Language Pathologist role, you'll:

  • Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders under mentor supervision.
  • Create and implement individualized treatment plans as a CFY SLP, with ongoing feedback and guidance.
  • Set clear goals, educate patients on expectations, and build understanding of therapy.
  • Counsel patients and families while maintaining precise documentation for all visits, with mentor review to support your CFY requirements.
  • Gain valuable exposure to FEES, standardized assessments, and advanced tools to enhance your clinical skills and competency.

Don't forget...

  • The position begins with a paid two-week orientation period of direct supervision and guidance from your assigned mentor.
  • Ongoing support and expertise throughout the year-long fellowship: we fulfill and exceed state and ASHA supervision requirements for a comprehensive, supportive experience.
  • A comprehensive and engaged mentor is available, along with support and resources from current CFs and Supervisors at nearby facilities, should you choose to take advantage of them.
  • Unlimited referral bonus program; up to $1,000 per successful referral.
  • You'll be part of a strong team and professional work environment.
  • This is a direct hire position (no agency).

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I guaranteed 40 hours?

Although we can't guarantee hours, our schedules are structured to provide a full 40-hour caseload. On the off chance additional hours are needed, most of our locations have nearby facilities to make it simple to fill your week.

How does corporate support the therapists on the floors?

Majority of our Regional Directors, as well as many corporate members, are therapists themselves. All of our Directors understand the constant challenge it is to meet the ever-changing demands of Medicare and insurance guidelines. Our clinical team provides thorough documentation training to ensure Clinical Fellows understand the importance of Medicare guidelines and regulations.

What type of mentorship or support do you provide for new grads?

We offer a comprehensive mentorship program to support new grads from day one. You'll be paired with an experienced therapist who will guide you through documentation, evaluations, treatment methods, and more. Our approach is tailored to your learning style, and as you gain confidence and begin working independently, your mentor and our clinical team will continue to provide support whenever needed.

Is there an opportunity to continue working at my facility as an SLP following the completion of my Clinical Fellowship Year?

Successful Clinical Fellows are strongly considered for full-time SLP roles once they complete their fellowship. While availability depends on current openings, we prioritize former CFs when opportunities arise at any of our locations. If a full-time position isn't immediately available, most of our CFs continue with us as SLP PRN.
