System Architect III
Job Description
This position will provide Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) technical support to the WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT). This contract position will provide technical skills and support knowledge within the ITSM Governance area. This contractor will provide support of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Responsibilities include analysis and troubleshooting ITSM tools, assist with Change Advisory Board meetings, and documentation of ITSM processes and procedures.
This role will have a dual focus: contributing to the design and development of a new ITSM platform while simultaneously providing ongoing support for our current ITSM tool, Cherwell.
Experience
Experience in IT service management is essential, with a strong knowledge of ITIL framework, best practices, and methodologies. Candidates should have experience in managing IT services and implementing process improvements.
This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and strong communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Cherwell is essential, and familiarity with modern ITSM platforms and development methodologies would be highly beneficial.
Necessary Skills

• Familiarity with ITSM procedures, such as knowledge management and change management.
• Knowledge of Incident, problem, change, release, and configuration management processes.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues using logical, creative, and systematic approaches.
• Deep understanding of ITSM processes and frameworks to ensure the tool aligns with best practices and organizational needs.
• Experience with various ITSM tools to leverage knowledge of existing solutions and avoid common pitfalls.
• Cloud deployment and infrastructure knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.
