Job Description The Simulator Development & Integration team is leading the way in developing advanced simulation training tools used in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) to train Sailors. This business area continues to expand as the demand for high fidelity, reliable, and cost-effective training solutions grows. Currently, there is an opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated project engineer as part of the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP), and its suite of simulators, which will be developed and delivered over the next two decades. The team needs versatile engineers who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment in both individual and team roles. The successful candidate will be responsible for various phases of complex technical projects, from initial planning and scoping to installation and delivery. Specific duties and responsibilities for this role include: Effectively interface with project stakeholders internal and external to the Program Support project work planning activities, such as definition of trainer scope and associated functional requirements, cost estimating, budget and schedule development, and risk identification Responsible for timely execution of assigned budget and schedule Support solicitation, placement, and subsequent follow and oversight of sub-tier supplier contracts Monitor project progress and performance against plans and initiate corrective actions as necessary Identify and take action to resolve technical problems and support needs to minimize project delays Ensure project results meet requirements associated with scope, schedule, cost, and technical quality The position requires close interaction and coordination with other engineers, project managers, and management across multiple sites and organizations to ensure successful completion of project objectives, including close collaboration with stakeholders across NNL, BPMI, Naval Reactors, and sub-tier suppliers. Periodic travel to NNPP and sub-tier supplier sites is required to effectively manage project execution. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Pay Range $85,200.00 - $133,200.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel. All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
