Any, or a combination of, the following: legal research and writing; client intake and case evaluation; drafting legal pleadings, including complaints, motions, and responses; civil discovery (both taking and responding) including written requests, depositions, and document review; drafting briefs and other court documents; communication with clients, experts, opposing counsel; prepare and deliver presentations on issues related to child sexual abuse and exploitation; create content for the Clinic’s website and social media.

The University of Georgia School of Law invites 1L and 2L applications for the position of paid full-time summer intern at the Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) Clinic.
The CEASE Clinic, located in downtown Athens, represents clients who have been sexually abused or exploited as children in juvenile court dependency and civil tort litigation against their abusers. The summer intern will work on all phases of litigation brought on behalf of survivors including but not limited to client intake, discovery, document drafting, client representation and other practical litigation skills.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position At least one year completed and in good academic standing at an ABA-accredited law school. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Ability to research case law and statutes; conduct fact analysis and apply relevant legal concepts; produce clear, concise writing; communicate orally and in writing in professional, collegial manner; balance more than one project/case at a time; Self-directed and able to work independently; Interest or background in child welfare, civil litigation, or public interest law.
