Senior Software Engineer

Hybrid (Office 3 days/wk – Onsite-Flex) within Oregon, Washington, Idaho or Utah

As a member of the Software Development Engineering team, the Senior Software Engineers is responsible for leading the implementation of complex software systems that help Cambia make healthcare easier and members lives better. In this role, you'll combine rigorous engineering discipline with modern platform expertise in cloud, data, and system integration technologies. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, influence leadership decisions, and mentor engineers to elevate team capabilities. You will help establish enterprise best practices to modernize systems, reference architectures for hybrid integrations, and build agentic systems and AI-accelerated workflows that improve how we build and scale at Cambia today.

What You Bring to Cambia:

Qualifications:

The Senior Software Engineer would have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment, including, but not limited to application development or database development.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect preferred

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong fundamentals with microservices, serverless architecture, continuous integration and continuous delivery.

  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages such as Golang, Python, JavaScript, C# and Java.

  • Strong skills in modern software engineering and utilizing cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure native services, Docker, Kubernetes, application logging and monitoring software.

  • Strong skills in AI fundamentals, and usage of AI for coding acceleration

  • Demonstrated experience with keeping development skills consistent with the state-of-the art

  • Demonstrated experience defining development best practices and deploying them throughout an engineering organization

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) processes.

  • Demonstrated experience with analyzing and troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead across project teams to leverage existing knowledge, technologies, and solutions

  • Strong cross-functional communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills

  • Motivated to continuously learn and adopt new skills and technologies. Actively participate in the company's learning and share-the-learning initiatives

  • Able to coach and solution with large multi-discipline teams (5+) for complex work efforts

  • Inspiring others to complete tasks on time, assisting with removing roadblocks and resolving issues.

  • Creates a climate where people want to do their best. Can motivate and empower others on work teams

  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired

What You Will Do at Cambia:

  • Passionate for delivering software solutions that make health care easier and Members lives better.

  • Serve as a player/coach who balances hands-on technical contributions with team development—building proof-of-concepts and production solutions that advance modernization goals, while actively coaching engineers on best practices, design patterns, and modern development methodologies

  • Engaged engineering leader that consults with Engineering and Business partners, ensuring the solutions are pragmatic, secure, scalable and aligned with Cambia’s goals

  • Role model the creation and utilization of Responsible agentic solutions and AI-accelerated workflows, including AI-assisted coding tools to improve engineering velocity and quality

  • Leads through action in requirement analysis, system design, data modeling, secure code development, code quality, test automation, and documentation.

  • Mentors and educates others to help build stronger team practices and stronger engineering communities

  • Provides technical leadership throughout organization consistent with the best industry practices.

  • Defines, challenges, and refines Cambia's broader organizational processes to innovate new capabilities and increase efficiency and productivity

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily performed in hybrid office environment with in-office and remote options available. Travel may be required, locally or out of state. May be required to work outside of normal hours and respond to on-call issues.

The expected hiring range for a Senior Software Engineeris $128,000 - $160,000/yeardepending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 20%. The current full salary range for this role is $128,000 - $208,000/year.
