Values:
  • Customer First: We help our customers achieve recovery every day.
  • Compassion: We treat everyone with kindness, empathy, and dignity.
  • Collaboration: We build strong relationships, internally and externally, to ensure effective care for our customers.
About the Role:

The Senior Peer Counseling program offers encouragement, support, and companionship to help older adults navigate life's emotional challenges and stressors. Aging often brings significant transitions-retirement, health changes, loss of loved ones, social isolation, or the effects of medications-that can impact mental wellness and overall quality of life.

Our trained Senior Peer Counselors provide understanding, empathy, and connection, drawing from their own lived experiences to support others facing similar challenges. Working alongside Weld County residents aged 60 and older, they help participants build personal strengths, coping skills, and resilience, fostering greater confidence, social engagement, and emotional well-being. Through this program, seniors gain not just guidance, but also a sense of connection and empowerment, reminding them they are not alone on their journey.

What You Will Do:
  • Peer Counselors provide supportive counseling services to clients in the privacy of their homes, apartments, assisted living facilities, nursing home facilities, or other community locations.
  • Encourage, support, and help older adults learn how to cope with emotional stressors and l; life difficulties.
  • Relate to the emotional stresses of the aging process by offering clients hope regarding resiliency, through appropriate self-disclosure, role modeling, and coaching.
  • Assist clients in improving their well-being and quality of life by coaching them in behavioral skills; educate clients to make informed choices; help the client problem solve and negotiate tasks/activities of daily living. May provide a listening ear to clients when needed.
  • Advocate for the client in different forums, including but not limited to nursing homes and with their families.
You're a Great Fit If You:
  • Have a High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Must have personal experience and coping skills that enable understanding of the concerns, problems, and feelings of older adults.
  • Must have sensitivity to individual needs and show respect for a person's independence and ability.
  • The ability to share skills and use life events and experiences in a self-help approach to assist seniors in reaching maximum growth and fulfillment.
  • Possess an interest in committing to the Peer Counseling program and philosophy.
Perks and Benefits:
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Multiple medical, dental, and vision plans at no cost to employees
  • Health Reimbursement Account
  • Retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Loan forgiveness opportunities
  • Employee referral bonuses
  • Professional development opportunities
