Green Coffee Handler
This position plays a vital role in enhancing people's days by operating and maintaining green coffee silo system equipment. The role supports all aspects of the roasting department, focusing on green coffee receiving, loading, and staging. The Green Coffee Handler is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to continuous improvement and good manufacturing housekeeping practices in line with established procedures and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Operate green bean receiving, loading, and staging systems to support the roasting team.
- Assist the roasting team with start-up and shutdown standard operating procedures of all equipment.
- Operate forklifts to unload trucks and move equipment and supplies.
- Participate in Quality Control programs and perform related tasks.
- Perform tasks related to inventory accounting and accurate data entry using software including MPE, Excel, and Google Docs.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and cleaning tasks for all green coffee systems and roasting-related equipment.
- Ensure daily documented cleaning of machinery and work area following good manufacturing practices.
- Report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, Cal/OSHA, FSMA, and all food and worker safety processes, procedures, and regulations.
- Engage in continuous improvement and 5S projects.
Essential Skills:
- 1-2 years of experience working in an industrial setting.
- Ability to repetitively lift 75 pounds.
- Understanding of basic mechanical principles and ability to read equipment manuals and diagrams.
- Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, and multiplication, for quick calculations related to production planning and inventory.
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes to meet production demands.
- Attention to detail while completing repetitive tasks to ensure accuracy of product quantities.
- Strong command of the English language for verbal, written, and reading comprehension.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a coffee roasting, packaging, and distribution facility, where the smell of coffee and ambient temperature are common. The team consists of about 30-40 members, with each role serving a purpose. The work schedule is Monday through Friday during the morning shift from 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Expect to operate a sit-down Hyster 80 model Forklift and adhere to safety and operational protocols.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
