The position requires strong leadership to manage audits, training, and incident response while staying abreast of evolving regulations like OSHA and EPA standards.

Policy Development and Compliance
  • Create, update, and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and programs aligned with local, state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Incorporate customer site-specific safety requirements, rules, tribal knowledge, and best practices into all documentation, risk assessments, and operational protocols.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify hazards in workplace environments, equipment, and processes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of client-specific standards, on-site tribal knowledge (e.g., critical unwritten insights from long-term personnel or local teams), and culturally or geographically unique safety practices.

Risk Management and Inspections
  • Perform on-site inspections, hazard evaluations, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Recommend corrective actions, equipment upgrades, or process changes to eliminate or minimize risks, including those related to ergonomics, chemical handling, and emergency preparedness.

Training and Education

  • Track training completion and evaluate program effectiveness through KPIs like incident rates and employee feedback.

Incident Investigation and Reporting
  • Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes.
  • Develop preventive measures, maintain detailed records, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies, management, and insurance purposes.

Program Oversight and Metrics
  • Monitor safety performance using key indicators (e.g., lost time injury rates, audit scores).
  • Manage safety committees, coordinate with external auditors, and integrate EHS into business operations to support sustainable growth.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • knowledge of health and safety regulations, auditing techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, safety software like iAuditor or Enablon).
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to travel, physical ability to conduct site inspections, and a commitment to ethical practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or NEBOSH Diploma are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in health and safety roles.
  • Proven track record in high-risk environments (e.g., manufacturing, construction, or consulting) and familiarity with safety management systems like ISO 45001.
