Bike Tours Manager

Employment Status: This is a seasonal full-time, partial-salaried position. Exact start and ending dates will depend on bookings and trip launches

Location: Coeur d’Alene, ID/ Spokane, WA (or nearby)

Summary: Oversee the day-to-day operations of ROW’s bicycle and e-bike tours in both North Idaho and Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. Lead ROW’s team of guides in meeting the goal of providing high quality multi-day trips by ensuring that standard policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for supporting and supervising all aspects of domestic bike tours in the Northwest during the busy summer season. This includes logistical concerns, equipment, supplies, transportation, clerical, guide coordination, communication with office staff and Director of Operations, etc. The position requires the orchestration of trips to and from the trail, assuring that they flow safely and efficiently, while minimizing stress on guides and team leaders.

Description: This is a seasonal, full time, hybrid salaried/ daily wage position based in Coeur d’Alene, ID and runs from approximately early May through mid September. It is expected that this person will lead three out of every four trips. During the rotation off of the trail, it is expected equipment maintenance and repair, paperwork and other “catch up” would occur. For a first-season Bike Tours manager, we require a minimum of two weekdays at the ROW office in Coeur d’Alene for training and orientation prior to the beginning of the season. (Depending on the experience of the applicant, more than two days may be required.)

• Attendance at ROW’s Manager Training held in early May is mandatory.
• Attendance at ROW’s Staff Trip held in early May is mandatory.

General Expectations of Managers: ROW Managers serve as role models for guides in a number of ways, including the following: prioritizing safety; exhibiting a positive attitude and good work ethic; willingness to resolve conflicts whether between themselves and other guides or managers, or between guides who are having difficulties. They are expected to comply with all ROW policies and to inform the Director of Operations if they disagree or will have trouble enforcing one, prior to the season. Conflicts with guides, managers and company owners shall be handled in a direct manner, with a focus on finding solutions and preventing future problems. ROW expects its managers to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times that they are at a work site, whether they are working or not. They are asked to be aware of the image they project to others, including ROW guests and the general public. Managers must exhibit an ability to accept criticism and openness to feedback. Finally, managers embrace ROW's commitment to excellence and are willing to continually work toward improving their knowledge and skills both on and off the trail.

Requirements: Must have excellent leadership, first aid and guest service skills. Must have the skills to manage and maintain ROW’s fleet of e-bikes and standard bicycles, prior experience running bike tours is preferred. Must be a team player, have strong communication skills, effective logistics/problem-solving skills, excellent ability to get along with others, willing to participate in manager meetings, and serve as a role model of ROW policies and systems. Must exhibit openness to feedback and the ability to accept constructive criticism. Must have a current First Aid/CPR card.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the ROW River Operations Manager or ROW Director of Operations.

Compensation: Partially salaried, with additional daily wages accrued for the time leading trips (variable, dependent on experience). Additional tasks are compensated hourly.

Other Benefits: In addition to ROW’s regular benefits package (K, Med FSA, Free or Discounted Trips, pro-deal, etc) the Middle Fork Manager will also receive two spaces during the season to bring friends or family on a multi-day trip.
