JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME
The School of Communication & Public Affairs in the College of Arts & Cultural Studies is accepting applications for the position of Professor of Communication, at the rank of full-professor, to begin Fall 2026/ Spring 2027. Review of applications will begin immediately, with priority given to applications received by March 6, 2026. RESPONSIBILITIES
A successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Teach courses in both the undergraduate and graduate communication programs (residential and hybrid formats). The standard teaching load for ORU faculty is 12 hours per-semester.
- Demonstrate a willingness to teach in both face-to-face and virtual/hybrid modalities.
- Provide academic advisement and direction to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Connect students with and review internship opportunities.
- Engage in scholarly research, presentations, and publications and in professional development activities. ORU is a teaching university where an active research agenda is encouraged.
- Serve on school, college, or university committees.
- Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services.
- Take an active role in the leading and development of new graduate programming.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Ph.D. in Communication.
- A record of teaching, scholarship, and service worthy of the rank of full-professor.
- Ability to effectively integrate faith and learning.
- Knowledge of Higher Education practices and adeptness in employing diverse instructional techniques to inspire and engage students effectively.
