Non-Clinical Sitter ECC

Summary:

A Non-Clinical Sitter works under the supervision and guidance of a professional staff nurse to provide observation of patients. Provides support to the nursing staff by observing the patient to prevent patient injury. Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient. Respect all aspects of confidentiality with patients. Observes room for a safe environment for the patient(s), visitors, and staff members. Observes the patient for any behavior that could indicate potential problems for the patient or staff and alerts the nursing staff immediately.

Requirements: Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment and Therapeutic milieu based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and possess the ability to communicate observed changes in behavior/activity to the registered nurse. High school diploma or GED, BLS certification from the American Heart Association required, and management of assaultive behavior training. Capable of observing the patient and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
