This position will operate medium to heavy duty equipment in a safe and efficient manner to repair and maintain interstate, roads, roadways, highways, bridges and structures, and erosion repairs throughout District One for the safety of the traveling public.How does it get done?
By Operating medium to heavy duty equipment. Utilize hand and power tools. Perform operator level maintenance on equipment and tools.Who are the customers?
The traveling public and pedestrians.Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment to include loader, five (5) and ten (10) yard dump trucks, self-propelled brooms, rollers, or mowers. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience. Must possess a valid drivers license and a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL), (or equivalent licenses from another state) within one (1) year of hire. This position may require Herbicide, Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsement.Substitution Table

This position is designated a safety sensitive position within the meaning of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and must abide by all provisions of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Testing Act. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of a post-offer physical and pre-employment drug test; employment is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License. A Class B Commercial Drivers License within six (6) months of hire and Class A Commercial Drivers License within nine (9) months of hire is required. Must pass demonstrative abilities with a 75% or better to advance to the interview.
