Sr. WAN Engineer

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Sr. WAN Engineer on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Marshall Flight Space Center (Huntsville, AL).

Responsibilities

The NASA Russia Services team is seeking a senior network engineer.

The Sr. WAN Engineer will :

• Support wide area networks, local area networks, voice/facsimile over IP, and video over IP.
• Assist with daily operations and all matters related to these international services, including customer defined changes, technology refresh, diagnostic support using network analysis tools, reporting metrics of performance, and network security documentation.
• Interact with team lead and peers on a daily basis, and may interact w/customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
• Determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments.
• Contribute to the development of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of related experience and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or greater.

-OR-

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, plus fifteen (15) years of related experience and the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or greater.
• Possess current or be able to obtain valid Passport for international travel and be able to travel to Russia. Travel occurs typically once or twice per year.

Preferences:

• Ability to work with various network cabling, wiring closets and termination blocks.
• Experience with Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Cisco Call Manager / Unity Voice Mail / Identity Services Engine / Wireless Access Points. Video Multicast, Video Teleconferencing, Orion Solarwinds, Multi Router Traffic Grapher / Paessler Router Traffic Grapher, Remedy Trouble Ticket System. Use of Linux, Microsoft Windows, Office Suite, and Visio.

Essential Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
• Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
• Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
• Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
• Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
