Overview
The GIS Analyst will support the Client of Security by developing, organizing, and maintaining enterprise-wide GIS datasets focused on security camera assets and related infrastructure. The role supports the creation of a GIS-enabled environment that integrates spatial data, drawings, and non-GIS documents with the CLIENT Enterprise Video Management System (VMS).
This position enables security and operations teams to quickly identify camera locations using CLIENT place names and entity locations such as subway platforms, bus stops, stations, yards, and multi-level facilities. The consultant will also support broader geospatial initiatives, including incident dashboards, BI data fusion projects, and enterprise-wide GIS security mapping efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Catalog, organize, and maintain agency-wide GIS datasets related to security assets.
- Collaborate with Client agency GIS teams to collect, validate, and ensure completeness of GIS mapping data.
- Collect existing security camera location information (latitude / longitude or alternative spatial references) and convert it into standardized GIS datasets.
- Perform georeferencing workflows to integrate non-GIS materials such as floor plans, CAD drawings, as-built documents, and other reference materials into geospatial environments.
- Register, document, and manage GIS datasets, including camera location layers, and maintain a structured GIS data repository or data warehouse.
- Link GIS camera datasets to the CLIENT Enterprise Video Management System using unique camera identifiers.
- Work closely with CLIENT security stakeholders to understand mapping needs and deliver practical GIS solutions.
- Support GIS-based incident tracking dashboards and security analytics initiatives.
- Provide geospatial support for UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) airspace management mapping.
- Assist with additional geospatial projects such as all-agency GIS security asset maps, BI data fusion projects, and other GIS initiatives as required.
