Required Experience
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering.
• Strong expertise in Cisco routing and switching
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
• Proficiency in F5 load balancing (LTM, GTM) and iRules.
• Experience with network automation tools (NetBrain, Ansible) and scripting (Python, YAML?)
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze network performance.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Experience with cloud networking and SD-WAN is a plus.
A network engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house data, voice, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by implementing and maintaining local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. Participates with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide technical training where required.
Job Responsibilities
• Collaborates with technical peers and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs. Performs essential job functions within an environment under normal lighting and climate control tolerances.
• Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. Requires the use of a personal computer.
• Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Implements and maintains company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware.
• Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
• Performs new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to resolve technical problems.
• Configures networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas.
• Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
• Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
• Monitors and tests network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports. Participates in managing all network security solutions.
