Job Title: Machine Operator / Forming Fabricator

Job Description

This position involves setting up and operating industrial machinery to fabricate detailed metal parts efficiently and safely. You will read and interpret manufacturing drawings, operate various machines, perform precise inspections, and ensure all parts meet quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all production, safety, and administrative policies to maintain a safe and compliant work area.
• Review manufacturing plans, engineering data, and setup instructions to understand job requirements and sequence of operations.
• Set up and operate machines such as hydraulic shears, chop saws, and other industrial equipment used in forming and fabrication.
• Operate forklifts to move raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished parts safely between workstations and staging areas.
• Inspect first-piece parts using gauges, calipers, mylars, and blueprints to verify dimensions and conformance to specifications.
• Perform 100% inspection of all parts produced, maintaining high quality standards and documenting any non-conformances.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify critical dimensions and tolerances throughout production.
• Complete all required production documentation, including part counts, labor cards, and non-conformance reports, accurately and on time.
• Perform minor machine maintenance, including cleaning, basic adjustments, and maintaining proper alignment of equipment.
• Tear down setups after completing jobs and return tools, fixtures, and equipment to their proper locations in an organized manner.
• Move completed parts to the next operation or designated staging area, ensuring correct identification and handling.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and team meetings to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules and achieve daily output targets.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods, while maintaining safe work practices.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated machine operation experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and setup instructions.
• Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and mylars for dimensional inspection.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating industrial machines such as hydraulic shears and chop saws.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely to move materials and parts within the facility.
• Capability to perform basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance on production machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing 100% inspection of parts to maintain quality standards.
• Ability to complete production documentation accurately, including part counts, labor cards, and non-conformance reports.
• Physical ability to perform laborious work, including heavy lifting and working on your feet in an industrial environment.
• Comfort working around large, loud, and heat-generating machinery while adhering to all safety requirements.
• Effective communication skills to interact professionally with team members and participate in meetings and improvement activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment producing large metal components.
• Familiarity with process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement practices.
• Experience using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment in a production setting.
• Ability to maintain organization of tools, fixtures, and work areas to support efficient workflow.
• Strong reliability and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Vista, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
