(Intertek-PSI) team in Miami, Florida. This is a high‐visibility opportunity to lead geotechnical services in one of the most dynamic and complex geotechnical markets in the U.S., supporting projects across coastal, urban, and transportation environments in South Florida. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.

About the Building & Construction Team

Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager will support the Building & Construction business by overseeing the Miami geotechnical department and its projects and by mentoring technicians, staff, and project geotechnical engineers. You will play a central role in shaping Intertek‐PSI's geotechnical practice in the Miami/South Florida market.

Salary & Benefits Information

Compensation packages are determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job‐related considerations. For the right candidates, signing bonuses and/or relocation assistance to the Miami area may also be considered.

In addition to a competitive compensation package, Intertek offers a comprehensive benefits program that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match; generous paid time off (PTO); tuition reimbursement; and more.

Work‐Life Balance and Flexibility

At Intertek, we value work‐life balance and understand the importance of flexibility. This position is primarily based in the Miami office and in the field; however, some flexibility for occasional remote work or working from home may be considered and supported, depending on business needs and project requirements, while maintaining a strong leadership presence with the local team and clients.

How you'll make an impact at Intertek Miami:

As the Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager, you will:

  • Lead overall management of geotechnical engineering services in the Miami office, including full P&L responsibility.
  • Partner with regional and national leadership to develop and execute an annual growth plan (revenue, margin, hit rates) for the Miami geotechnical market.
  • Direct and execute geotechnical project assignments, including engineering analyses and report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory services for projects across Miami‐Dade and South Florida.
  • Provide senior review of proposals and reports, ensuring that commitments to clients are met and that deliverables reflect local regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Mentor and train senior and junior professional staff, building a strong, growth‐oriented geotechnical team in the Miami office.
  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations, representing Intertek‐PSI within the Miami/South Florida A/E/C community.
  • Lead growth of the Miami geotechnical practice by:
    • Developing and executing a local business development plan tailored to Miami and South Florida.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors across the South Florida market.
    • Proactively identifying upcoming projects and positioning Intertek‐PSI for key pursuits in private, municipal, and FDOT sectors.
  • Engage effectively with a diverse client base; bilingual Spanish/English skills are highly preferred and beneficial in the Miami market.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering is required
  • Five or more years of geotechnical engineering design and consulting services experience are required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, including experience managing client relationships and project teams.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering and related disciplines, with the ability and desire to provide creative and practical solutions to meet client needs in coastal and urban environments typical of Miami.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record required.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Florida Professional Registration (PE) is highly preferred
    • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with active or near‐term PE licensure in Florida.
  • Experience working with clients and staff in the Miami/South Florida market is preferred
  • Existing relationships with public-sector clients (municipalities, counties, cities, and/or FDOT) is highly preferred
  • Previous staff management experience and P&L responsibilities highly preferred
  • Multi‐sector experience (private, municipal, FDOT) preferred, especially within the South Florida region.
  • Established network in the Miami / South Florida A/E/C community and proven ability to generate new business opportunities highly preferred
