OCI Architect

Centroid is Oracle Corporation's top Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) partner in North America, delivering architecture, implementation and modernization initiatives in OCI for our customers.

Our architects work directly alongside Centroid’s and client teams to design, migrate, and modernize mission-critical workloads- Oracle Databases, EBS, PeopleSoft, and next-generation AI/Data, Agentic AI, OCI genAI Platform solutions on OCI.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role.

You will serve as the primary OCI architect on client engagements:

• owning solution design end-to-end, guiding technical decisions, and delivering production-grade implementations.
• No people management responsibilities.
• As OCI Architect you will be engaging with various customers in their cloud enablement initiatives.
• The candidate will be involved in design and execution of cloud migration strategy, automating existing cloud workloads in cloud, provide services to port existing workloads to leverage cloud benefits.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in customer-facing infrastructure or cloud architecture roles 5+ years of hands-on OCI design and implementation experience Location: 100% Remote Job Type: Full Time employee, CTH, or Contract Architect end-to-end OCI solutions for customer engagements spanning landing zone design, network topology, identity, compute, storage, and database tiers Lead Oracle Database workload migrations to OCI, including Exadata Cloud Service, Autonomous Database (ADB), and Base Database Service, with a focus on performance, HA, and DR Design and execute Oracle Applications migrations (EBS, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards) to OCI, including lift-and-shift and modernization patterns Architect and deploy AI/Data Platform (AIDP) workloads leveraging OCI GenAI Service, OCI AI Agents, OCI Data Science, and Oracle Database 23ai Vector Search Develop and present technical architectures, reference designs, and migration runbooks for client pre-sales and delivery engagements Build and maintain OCI landing zones using Terraform and OCI Resource Manager, aligned to Oracle's CIS Foundations Benchmark Collaborate with Oracle technical teams (STCs, Cloud Engineers) on joint client engagements; serve as the technical point of escalation for Centroid Define standards, reusable patterns, and architectural guardrails for Centroid's OCI delivery practice Skills Preferred: OCI Core Services Compute: VM/BM shapes, Flex shapes, instances, autoscaling, instance configurations Networking: VCN design, FastConnect, Site-to-Site VPN, DRG v2, Network Firewall, load balancers (L4/L7), DNS, Private DNS Resolver Storage: Block Volume, File Storage (FSS), Object Storage (lifecycle, replication, versioning), Local NVMe IAM: compartment hierarchy, policies, dynamic groups, federated identity (SAML/SCIM), OCI Vault, Bastion Service Kubernetes: OKE cluster provisioning, node pool management, cluster networking (flannel/NPN), OCI Container Registry (OCIR) Oracle Database & Exadata Autonomous Database (ADB-S, ADB-D), Base Database Service, Exadata Cloud Service, Exadata Cloud@Customer Data Guard (Maximum Availability, Maximum Performance), GoldenGate for live migration and zero-downtime cutovers Oracle Database 23ai: JSON Relational Duality, True Cache, AI Vector Search, Select AI Database migration tools: MV2ADB, Data Pump, ZDLRA, Database Migration Service (DMS) Oracle Applications (Migrations to OCI) EBS 12.1/12.2 on OCI: architecture patterns, shared file system design, wallet-based DB connectivity or similar Oracle Application experience, like Peoplesoft or JDE.

AI / GenAI / Data Platform OCI Generative AI Service:

• Cohere and Meta model endpoints, embedding models, semantic search patterns OCI AI Agents: agent frameworks, tool configuration, RAG pipelines, knowledge base integration OCI Data Science: model deployment, JupyterLab environments, ML pipelines, Aqua (AI Quick Actions) Oracle Database 23ai Vector Search: VECTOR data type, HNSW/IVF indexes, vector distance functions Technical Skills — Preferred Multi-cloud connectivity: OCI–Azure Interconnect, OCI–AWS, Oracle Database@Azure, Oracle Database@AWS Oracle WebLogic Server on OCI / WebLogic for OKE ZFS Storage Appliance on OCI, Oracle Linux, RHEL administration at scale Observability: OCI Monitoring, Logging, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), OCI Ops Insights FinOps: cost analysis, committed use discounts, OCI resource scheduling Preferred Qualifications Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate (1Z0-1072) - required within 90 days if not already held Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional (1Z0-997) - strongly preferred Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2024 Generative AI Professional (1Z0-1127) - preferred Oracle Exadata Database Machine Implementation Specialist - preferred for Exadata-focused engagements Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Lift projects Education Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field - or equivalent professional experience 10+ years total technical experience; 5+ years OCI-specific hands-on delivery What Sets This Role Apart You will work on OCI exclusively with ability to learn and engage with emerging technologies like multi-cloud architecture, Agentic AI and Generative AI.
