Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

What does the team work on?

When you join our Core Analytics Team, you become part of a centralized hub of analytics excellence. This team provides the unique opportunity to work alongside a world-class peer group, leveraging centrally maintained tools and resources to drive impactful results. We emphasize continuous learning and development, ensuring team members are always growing their skills and expertise. Collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and Business teams, we deliver data-driven insights and innovative capabilities that guide our stakeholders, shape our strategies, and enhance the experiences of Roku’s users globally.

What is the role?

Roku is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Core Analytics team supporting the Roku TV organization. In this role, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to executive business leaders, proactively identifying areas of the business requiring attention and formulating actionable insights. You will retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and visualize large-scale data sets to fuel some of Roku's most significant business decisions. This includes developing and maintaining dashboards, designing and executing experimentation frameworks, and building data pipelines that power automation and reporting. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align data science initiatives with organizational goals. The ideal candidate brings deep curiosity, creative problem-solving skills, and a strong ownership mindset spanning the full lifecycle from ideation to post-launch tracking.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $179,900 - $212,300 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

How will I use AI at Roku?

At Roku, we don’t just use AI, we work with it. AI agents and smart tools help power drafts, analysis, and repetitive workflows, while our people bring direction, judgment, and accountability. We’re looking for curious, adaptable builders who can show how they’ve used AI or automation to move faster, raise the bar, and scale their impact.

We valueyour AI skills if have built fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain — coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks. And you can describe projects where you shipped real work with these tools. You know how to drive an agent, verify its output, and ramp on an unfamiliar codebase with an agent helping you.

What are the responsibilities of the role?

  • Develop and maintain dashboards using tools such as Looker or Tableau to monitor device hardware and software health and illustrate complex platform phenomena
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, solve business problems, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Develop data pipelines to power automation, validation, and reporting workflows
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including product, engineering, and business teams to align data science initiatives with organizational goals
  • Design and execute A/B tests and experimentation frameworks to improve the customer streaming experience
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and develop analytical tools to surface insights and mitigate risks
  • Apply creative problem-solving to find data proxies when direct measurement is unavailable
  • Stay current on advancements in AI, machine learning, and data science to inform team best practices

What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku?

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or business intelligence
  • Academic background in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong command of SQL with experience working in Big Data environments
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
  • Strong understanding of statistics, including A/B experimentation and statistical inference
  • Experience with statistical modeling and leveraging AI/LLM tools to enhance analytical workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings and present insights to diverse audiences including senior leadership
  • Investigative mindset with a passion for root-cause analysis and problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams across distributed teams

What should I know about Roku's culture?

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
