Job description Adjunct Faculty - Nursing Simulation Fontbonne University’s Department of Nursing invites applications for an adjunct simulation faculty member to join the department in January 2024. We are seeking an educator that has a passion for simulation. This unique adjunct faculty position offers 9 credits of workload per academic year. The adjunct simulation faculty may teach labs and simulations. This may include health assessment, fundamentals of nursing, women’s health, pediatrics, psych, and med surg. Essential Duties & Responsibilities •Collaborates with the Simulation Coordinator and Course Leads to design experiences/activities that complement field-based expectations for safe, effective practitioners. •Uses evidence-based pre-briefing, simulation scenarios, debriefing methods, and skills teaching strategies to provide best-practice teaching experience. •Incorporates sound pedagogy and andragogy into teaching activities in the skills lab. •Uses technology to enhance and optimize student learning outcomes. •Utilizes best evidence for developing teaching/learning activities. •Evaluates students’ skills performance in lab using program assessments. •Supervises students’ lab practice and provides students with timely feedback on skills performance. •Models professional and ethical behaviors •Helps to run pre-programmed simulation scenarios with the Simulation Coordinator and nursing faculty, ensuring all equipment is set up for simulations. •Sets up and cleans up equipment and supplies for simulations and skills labs. •Collaborates with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and system problems. •Conducts ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, ensuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order. •Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates. •Manages and maintain record of warranties, repair, and replacement of simulators •Performs other duties appropriate to simulation/lab assignment. General Requirements •Communicates effectively through written, verbal, and technologic methods. •Effective interpersonal communication. •Adheres to competency, health, certification, licensure, and other requirements. •Commitment to working with diverse learners and communities, including first-generation students and students from underrepresented groups. Minimum Requirements •Master’s degree in nursing •At least 2 years of experience as a registered nurse •Current, active licensure to practice professional nursing in Missouri; the candidate’s license to practice professional nursing has never been disciplined in any jurisdiction. •Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. •Experience in high-fidelity simulation.
